Ohhhhh. I thought we were ranking them in order of awesomeness (Avengers) to pure shit (Ant Man).

I'll post the results and see what the general ranking would look like.

Well, you can look at it that way. On a scale of 1-10, 1 can be "pure shit", and 10 can be "awesomeness".

Watching the MCUs beginning with Iron Man with my almost 8 daughter as she's seen a few of the newer ones and wants to go to Infinity War with me when it's in the cinema...so today was Iron Man 2 which usually seems to rank very low on everyone's list and without having watched it in several years I'd probably have ranked it low too...and maybe will still compared to the others once they're all fresh...but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised overall by how much I genuinely enjoyed it. My daughter absolutely loved ScarJo's first real bit of action in Hammer's building with Happy and said "oh my God she's awesome" quite a few times.

There's a lot of grabage in non-MCU movies. Non-MCU movies have been made about: X-Men, Fantastic Four, Blade, Daredevil, Elektra, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America, and Howard the Duck.

I'm pretty nervous about X-Men Dark Phoenix coming out later this year. They really messed up Phoenix in X3. Plus they poorly adapted the most iconic X-Men storyline in Days of Future Past, and one of its most iconic villains in Apocalypse.

Upcoming non-MCU films: Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix, Venom, Silver & Black, Gambit, and New Mutants. I'm only really excited for Deadpool 2.

I would think you are in the extreme minority on this.

However I get coming into an MCU thread and shitting on the MCU.

I have fun doing that in the DC thread.

From the list above....completely agree that the only thing that I care about is Deadpool 2. Allegedly it is testing poor with test audiences....but that could be fake news.

Lets assume Captain and Iron Man both die at the conclusion of Avengers 4 - Bucky takes on the role of Captain and Iron Man goes out in style (likely sacrificing himself, possibly with the help of CA, to save earth). Do they continue their "phases" and slowly introduce the Fox acquisition characters? Do we get a "New Avengers" with the likes of familiar faces in Black Panther and Spider-Man as well as Wolverine, The Thing, etc?

There's plenty of story to tell and several characters to flesh out. I remember hearing that GotG 3 will conclude their run but James Gunn will take on the role of "cosmic consultant".

Two new TV spots, each with a little bit of new footage not seen in the previous trailer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw7pgUILp3s

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9vnpKyJcEc

and this is sort of a bootleg copy of a scene that was shown at the Nickelodean Kids Awards, a fuller version of Thor first running into the Guardians (what was shown in the Comic Con trailer last summer)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze2Df3BLnSA

meanwhile, Black Panther is now the 5th highest grossing movie of all time domestically. Not for superhero movies, of ALL MOVIES, ever. Granted, not adjusted for inflation (when you throw that in, Gone With The Wind winds up at like a couple billion domestic, but there were also quite a few less options for entertainment back in those days, not to mention movies would routinely stay on theater screens for a full year or more).

BP is up domestically but probably won’t come near global.

I think infinity war is short on black panther domestic and short on avengers one global....unless it has glowing reviews

Also I hope I am wrong and it is great and goes bananas

Marvel threw together this simple little video with a bunch of the different cast members specifically as a thank you to all the fans for a wild 10 years.

    https://youtu.be/Qu70ZvpsuyA

The Russos have been doing sort of a press tour in a bunch of different major cities all around the world lately for a "premiere" (& w/some different cast at each), but they're only screening like 20-30 minutes of the film at each place. Haven't confirmed this yet, but pretty sure it's the same 20m chunk everywhere. They're like truly in heavy duty lockdown, no-spoiler mode, even for them. Literally only a handful of people have seen the entire, finished film, with Kevin Feige being one and of course James Gunn (from what he tweeted last week being another.
It won't be until the proper, official Hollywood premiere on April 23rd that ANY of the other cast and crew will finally get to see the whole thing. and of course it's only 4 days later we the rest of the world gets to see.

Okay at this point it seems practically a total given the new North American opening weekend record will be again reset. for Fandango.com, Infinity War is selling more than twice the amount of Black Panther tickets than at the same point in its pre-sales cycle.

for further context, IW has sold more tickets at this point in the cycle than Ant-Man, Civil War, Doctor Strange, GOTGV2, Homecoming, Ragnarok and Black Panther COMBINED.

and mind you, it won't even have the 3D angle for those larger prices. IMAX, yeah, but not that and 3D. The thing's gonna be fucking huge

and actually they put out another little featurrette highlighting the "family" aspect of the MCU with all its actors, that even has a little bit of new movie footage

It's official that Carrie Coon (she of Gone Girl, Fargo and The Leftovers) will be providing the voice for the Black Order member known as Proxima Midnight. well, that's the only female that's part of the Black Order here in this movie (if you don't know, they're Thanos' top lieutenants who are here to help him collect all the stones).

I consider this pretty awesome news.

It really is, ending up in the #2 spot of all time is very realistic. Hard to fathom the gap between 1 and 2 is a massive $176 million. It could smash Avatar for 2nd and still be $100 million away of The Force Awakens.

It is not coming close to Avatar....in my opinion.
