Re: In need of some golf tips...

Started off with a triple yesterday and ended up with 43 on the front. Parred 10, bogeyed 11, and the wheels fell off. Finished with a 90.
Today I shot 84 with two triples. Only took 24 putts today though. My wedge was on fire.

Nice Steng! Feels great when everything is working.

Nice comeback. Always nice to have a good round after a bad one.

Weather was actually pretty good yesterday. Shot an 84 so I feel pretty good about that. Driving the ball really well and putting lights out. Had one bad hole that drove the score up, otherwise it would have been a great day.

Nice rounds everyone! I played yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks. Played through a downpour for about 20 minutes. Driving and chipping was good, everything else sucked. Just missed a few putts. Shot a 107 which is slightly higher than normal for me, but it was a new course.

Hoping to hit the range this week to work on my irons

Way to go Jen! Not bad for taking a few weeks off and tough conditions. You can always count on adding a stroke or two when playing a new course. Keep up the great work!

Thanks yo! Good round for you as well. Putting really is such a key. I had 31 putts Saturday which I'm fairly certain is an all time low for me. Helps that I had some really nice approach shots and had 4 up and downs for par saves.

Thanks dude. To be fair it was slightly down hill and also down wind so it wasn't purely on me. But I did confirm by tracking it in real time from the cart and then shooting my gun back towards the tee box before I hit my approach, and that was the accurate number.

I really am loving my new driver. I was hitting my old one good too, but this thing has taken it to the next level for me. I drove the ball better on Saturday than I have in my entire life, it's such a good feeling.

The back nine of the first round was just bogeys and doubles. It's not a particularly difficult course, the greens weren't receptive and I couldn't hold my approaches.

I ended 16th out of 25th in my flight. It was all 8-13 handicappers. The guy that won went 82-73.

It's the TSi2. It makes such a sexy sound when you square one up. I've really got it dialed in lately. When I get lazy I start to let the ball drift further back in my stance in my driver setup and it causes me to not be able to get through and just spin it left OB like clockwork. Really just been focusing on having it right on or just in back of my front foot and trying to just square it up center-face. The past few rounds it's really been working.

Sounds like you had a sandbagger in your flight. Just happens to rip of a +1 on the second round.

Whether I shoot 83, or 99 I'm going to have a ton of fun. Every single time. Only when I get north of 100 will my attitude change.

    Can. Not. Wait.

Not sure. I played with him on Saturday for his 83. He started that round with an 8. He mashes the ball off the tee. The second course is only 6,000 yards so if he's hitting it straight off the tee, he's hitting wedges into everything. He seemed too young and dumb to sandbag.

Holy cow - 24 putts is awesome. My lowest putts on The Grint shows as 28. Well done.

I shot 77, 76 this weekend. 76 was a practice round at the course I’m playing the MidAm at on Wednesday. 14 pars and 4 bogies. A 35 putt, 3 putt free 76…I think that tells you everything you need to know about the round

    What course is it?

To be fair I was on the fringe a lot which don't technically count, but my wedge was pretty dialed in.

Thanks! Tough to get into a groove only playing here and there but it's still fun. If i could just figure out why i cant hit my irons i'd save 5-10 shots. I'm also still figuring out my distances.

Friendly tip - spend a bunch of time on a putting green. Hitting chips and putts at first just to get a feel before full swings.

Most great coaches will tell you that learning from the green back to tee is the most effective way, and after trying to teach my girlfriend, I agree wholeheartedly. If she can nearly how to feel it with chipping and putting, learning to swing a club full will be much easier.

Golf is a dumb game. I played so bad in Florida that I was ready to quit. Shot 74 on Sunday without a birdie.

Got a last minute invite to play a private club in town I've never played before. Funky little course, only 5300 yards from the blues and a lot of short par 4s, but a lot of forced carries and the greens/bunkers were BRUTALLY tough. I had FORTY THREE putts Short game let me way down, to say the least, especially with 8 GIRs and 62% fairways hit. I four putted a par 3 , but also drove a 265 yard par 4 with my 3 hybrid and had a 2-putt birdie.

I think I might have an opportunity to play it again this year, so I'll know what to expect. All in all, really happy with the way I've been hitting the ball lately.

That would be the definition of an up and down day.

I'm off tomorrow, and will be going to a course I've never played as well. Looking forward to it. Also have my regular Sunday round. Hoping to back up last week's 84.

Tell me about it! I think 43 putts is maybe the most I've ever had. Even splitting the difference between last week (31 putts) and today, so 37 putts, I'd have come in with an 87. Just a brutal performance but I was with a good group that wasn't taking things too seriously so it didn't really bother me. First time playing a course you kind of just have to learn as you go and can't get too upset.

When I have a tough day putting I try not to feel too bad. I figure as long as I'm hitting the ball well and my short game is good, the putting is an easy fix. I usually figure that out pretty quickly what's wrong.

I'm kind of lucky in that I can still keep two putting even when my putting stroke feels way off track because I'm a good lag putter, I'll just keep missing first putts but be close enough to where I'm not grinding out 10 foot second putts over and over

I hit 7 out of 9 greens on the front in my second round in Florida and shot a 50. Was playing a 36 hole course and had the wrong pin sheet in the cart.
