i think in 2017 i’d left around 4:30 in my uber to get to the lots for 5 from southend, it wasn’t too bad. 20 minutes was probably not generous enough of an estimate. i would always hop out at the QT though and walk up pavilion road, for both mine and the drivers sake.

i drove last year and went to the top of the lawn/headed out towards the end of watchtower and was able to get to the car and slip out relatively easily. i parked on the right side of pavilion road as you approach the venue from tryon, not the main lots.
in the past when i’ve ubered out, i typically will head to the QT/movie theatre lot, which is better than waiting in the lot line for uber/lyft. but it’s probably going to be pretty expensive with surge pricing back into uptown.
depending on how much you or your wife plan to drink, it may be a better experience to just take the rental.
