Re: Father John Misty

I really enjoyed and still listen to Fear Fun. Wasn't as in to I Love you Honeybear, and Pure Comedy just tried way too hard. Don't see that changing with future releases either

I actually liked Pure Comedy more than his previous FJM albums. It's a concept album to be sure, but I thought the music itself was far more developed than previous efforts

Hopefully this album is more along the lines of Honeybear and not Pure Comedy.

I agree with you regarding Pure Comedy -- the music and sound is definitely further developed -- and the new songs I've heard, especially "Dumb Enough to Try", continue that trend.

I do understand that many felt Pure Comedy was too inaccessible and overbearing -- but I really appreciate the way the sound/music was crafted and produced.

No Philly date is weird. Maybe I'll make a trip out to Pittsburgh if nothing pops up.

Doing the Oxford show. Maybe I should ask for more bands to tour so they'll drop dates.

Stage AE tickets on sale today for fellow Pittsburgher's. Use code "TILLMAN" for the presale on ticketbastard.

Awesome show last night! Tillman is quite the showman and kills it live. I'd definitely recommend getting to one of his shows if you're able to.

The venue was small, and I was actually surprised they used it as indoor (the venue can be either inside or outside, the stage can face either way). We sat up in the balcony since it was a fairly younger crowd. Had a great view and sound.

I'm going to see him in October and am super excited. I saw him on Austin City Limit a few weeks ago and it looked like he was really great live so this is great to hear.

I loved the Honeybear album. I have not been able to get into anything else he's released outside that record. All the songs sound the same to me.

I still can't get into Pure Comedy. I love the other 3 albums. Fear Fun and God's Favorite Customer are tied for my favorite.
