I haven't been to a show at Mansfield since 2008. Are the lots still ridiculous? I'm 32, don't smoke pot anymore and just want to have some beers before going in to the show. Last time I was there the cops were dicks about drinking. Has that changed/

Last time I went to 4 shows in 11 days (2 DMB, 2 Pearl Jam) and they were fine for DMB N1, but I think there were too many underage kids doing stupid shit so they totally cracked down after that.

tailgating scene is almost non-existent

i almost got arrested in 09 for trying to buy beer. i was 24 and live in NH. you have to be 25 there to buy beer if you're out of state. there was a cop at the stand and pulled me aside and accused me of having a fake id.

i'm like, "officer, i'm 24 years old, i live about an hour and a half away...i'm seriously in trouble for trying to buy beer at 24?" i had a couple credit cards that also have my name on it so he let me go, but they give everyone a hard time there

There is a T that goes right to Mansfield but I am not sure how close it is to the Amphitheater

Edit: Just did a quick search the T stop is not real close to the Comcast Center so you would have to Taxi it over or take a long walk.

the T is not close to the venue. Its about 3.5 miles to the venue from the t station. Idk about busses and if you try to get back to boston after the show on the train i think the last train leaves there around 11pm so the show will just be ending then so there will be no way to take the train back to boston.

Looks like the wife and I will be going to both shows here at Mansfield this year as we like to try a new venue each year. Can anyone help me with a couple questions?

1) How is the tailgate scene and when do lots open? Do you need solo cups in the lots or do cops not give a shit if you are clearly in your mid-30's?

2) Is VIP parking worth it? Hotel is probably 30 minutes away. Is it crazy trying to leave the lots after the show?

3) How is the Pit there? Mellow or rowdy? Last tour we were able to just chill in the Charlotte pit without people bumping us all the time. Is the pit here the same or do they oversell it?

1. Yes, you will need solo cups. The cops are dickheads to all ages. The most fun I had tailgating was when I paid $20 to park across the street from the venue, was able to drink openly without any issue and I got out quicker after the show too.

2. From everything I've heard, VIP is worth it. Trying to get out after the show is a clusterfuck.

3. Never done Pit.

by all means do the EZ OUT parking its like 20-40 bucks its the first lot on the right after you take the exit. It is so worth it. Mansfield lots are the worse.

and the Pit is just like any other pit experience..there is some bumping but mostly by mistake (ie people trying to get out to use the bathroom or drinks/food) I had a pretty chill time in the pit a few summers ago aside from 2 d bags that kept trying to creep closer and closer to the stage and pissed everyone off. Me and my friend are both well over 6 feet and 200+lbs..I gave one of the kids a little elbow and told him to cut the shit and they crept back towards the back of the pit.

1) I never had tailgating problems ever. I second the bring solo cup statement that was said above. Though i there was a group of middle aged people next to me just sitting there at their car talking and having a few drinks. Doing nothing wrong at all and the cops really bothered them about them drinking and even searched the trunk for beer. I was like really. They are going to bother them when they are doing nothing wrong and there are young kids 5 cars down acting like complete idiots and are clearly too young to drink, but i'm lucky to never have a problem when i go.

2) The lots are horrible there. If you get put in the lots all the way down the side on either side then you are screwed and will be waiting 2 hours to get out. Vip is worth it but usually i take the next day after night 2 out of work so i dont mind sitting around waiting for the traffic to clear after the show. Just cook another burger and have a good time is my motto.

3) Did pit in mansfield and had the best experience ever. was front row rail in front of boyd night 1 and 2nd row night 2 right in front of stefan. Had so much room around me to dance and stuff. No one pushed or shoved. make friends with people around you and there will be no problems at all. I would do pit again in a heartbeat. Though this tour i think i'm going to do seats again because one friend i'm going with does not want to do pit and i dont think i can luck out getting pit again this year. Its so hard to get pit. I just got lucky in 2010 to get it twice. Heres to getting pit again in 2013. =

When you talk about the pit, do you just mean the front rows? The one time I got awesome seats from Warehouse we were in folding seats 4 rows from the stage. There's no standing room pit per se like at other shows.

As for the lots its it or miss depending where they put you. It's taken me anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours to leave.

they had a standing pit GA two summers ago..a lot of shows at Mansfield have a pit now they just move the seats out of the first however amount of rows.
