Re: Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Thread

Anybody else pumped about this release? Next to impossible getting tickets to his Broadway run. So this is pretty cool they are releasing the soundtrack.

    I'm pumped.

One of my coworkers who's seen him about 80 times won the lottery and went last night and said it was incredible. Stoked I get to see what this show is like with the release.

Just now starting to get into Springsteen. I've started reading his autobiography and find him fascinating. I really like his way of storytelling. I'm excited to see his Broadway show now after hearing so much good about it and now learning his story.

Excited for the release for sure. Tried to get tickets a few times with no luck. Haven't caught him live since 14 but was lucky enough to catch them with Clarence my first show in 02 or 03

I really enjoyed two of the three singles. I think the second one "There Goes my Miracle" wasn't all that great to me.

Same here. I do find myself getting Hello Sunshine stuck in my head a lot. His vocals sound pretty great so far. Tuscon Train was a nice tune as well. Looking forward to the full release!

Agreed. Excited for the album though. There Goes My Miracle was not good though. Tucson Train is my favorite of the three. Considering buying the vinyl possibly for the cover alone.

I have purchased his autobiography, Born to Run about a month ago and have not cracked it open yet as I'm reading Jim Ross' latest book but looking forward to it.

I read that book last year. When I got it I wasn't really a fan at all. I'd say I tolerated his music more than anything. I was was just curious about his story. It is a fantastic autobiography. Maybe one of the best musician auto's out there. As soon as I finished it I bought his 5 LP live album. Really, really great book.

I'm bummed at how boring I found JR's book. Never finished it. I got to interview him too when he was doing live shows talking about his life and he was decent. His publicist was a pain in the ass though

His autobiography is fantastic. He narrates it as well in the audiobook version and it's kinda neat.

Another amazing musician autobiography is Eric Clapton's. Fascinating life, and he probably should be dead with all the drugs he did. Slash was also a good one. Same story, but with alcohol.

Mark Lanegan's was a fantastic read but far from an easy one, it really is a wonder that he is alive but I am damn happy he is.

I'd like to throw Robbie Robertson's bio into the mix of great bios. Not the seedy rock 'n' roll memoir like Slash or Clapton but great look into one of the best bands of the time period. It feels a little one sided but you get a good look behind the curtain and the Dylan relationship. It's also very focused on basically only deals with his Hawks/Band related years.

I really like this album. A lot of solid gems from 70s sessions. Janey is a top 20 Springsteen song imo. Best release since The Rising

I’ve been on a huge Springsteen kick this year. Darkness has always been my favorite album of any band. It’s the perfect album imo, but I forgot how many great songs are on the late 80s/early 90s albums. Tunnel of love might be some of his best songwriting when it comes to love songs. Lucky town is great.

Agreed. It's an excellent read. Though the more I read/hear about other members and people during that time.. The more of a "Story" I consider it. But very well written and perhaps just Robbie getting old and remembering things the way he wanted or hoped they had been... He does give himself way too much credit... But Rockstars are ego maniacs...

I believe I saw that they are definitely doing NA in late winter/spring, but no dates, are doing europe/international (with specific dates), and then they're coming back to NA--but again no dates. Is that right?

Atlanta looks like my stop. I would assume there's a Nashville stop on the fall tour. Not sure what next year will look like for me with family planning stuff so at this point, February isn't off the table yet. Atlanta may be all I can swing.
