Re: Dave Matthews Band "Drive-In" - Every Wednesday At 8!

Great memories of the 2013 tour with Kit Kat Jam, Crazy Easy, Great Recently & LBV’s, Ants Opener & Two Step Spoon in the rain in Bristow. First year I had a real job so I could see multiple shows. Did WPB, Charlotte, Va Beach, & Bristow.

Yeah it was, some really cool setlists that year. Seems like it was just as creative as 2003. Maybe 2023 will produce some more adventurous sets

This show holds a special place in my heart tbh. Short drive up from Pittsburgh and my home venue - spent the afternoon golfing with my brother / a good friend. Went to the show - it was excellent - stayed up in Cleveland for the night. This is when Boyd was doing his meet-ups after the show, so we decided to go and do that - it was at some hotel parking lot. Met Boyd - got a few pictures, ended up crashing some wedding after-party...I still have the shot glasses commemorating their nuptials.

The only bad part was that my Penguins got boat-raced in Game 1 vs. Boston that night in the Eastern Conference finals en route to getting swept .

I was proud of myself that night leaving Blossom. I turned to my GF and said "that show will be a Live Trax."

Not only was it released as a LT, but now we get to relive it with the Drive In. Very psyched.

Really enjoyed this show too. I have some good memories from that night.

I still think the night before in Pittsburgh was better, but I can't complain.

I feel like Gaucho had a lot of potential with the verses, love the riff, lyrics, everything about the verses

This show really made me miss some of the tunes from the Away From the World era - definitely some songs in that group that are underappreciated, both by the fans and the band.

What a great show. And speaking of Gaucho, do people really hate that song because of the kids at the end in the studio version? That song owns. DMB actually sounded like DMB in June of 2013. I think the start of the 2013 tour showed that less Big Whiskey, no Stand Up, and more Away From the World = waaaaaaaaay better sets.

I'll admit I don't like the studio version - but the live version is A-OK with me.

Kids in the studio album yes to some degree but I've always felt like the verses are at one really solid level but the song gradually falls apart, it changes things from a song that could be great to a song that's just whatever for me. To contrast that with something else that I think has great flow throughout and was written around the same time (roughly) I think LITHOG is really good, never falls apart.

Camden 2013 (LT 45) definitely better set than last night's, but that was still cool

Watching Nancies kick off the show really makes me miss Boyd. Clearly Dave’s preference and the direction of the band has changed but the violin’s presence is so integral to their identity. My experience going to shows hasn’t diminished, but recordings just aren’t as much fun to watch without that element of the band IMO.

All they need to do is add a talented jazz/rock-oriented violinist. No need to throw Buddy out with the bathwater (all he needs to do is lose the church organ). No need to recall Boyd with all of his issues. This would be so simple to do...would definitely pull me back into seeing multiple shows per year. Until then, it's maybe one or none.

The SU songs and the cover makes this show less appealing to me, but not a bad at all...quite good actually.

Dreamgirl actually a good version, one of the better ones. Hunger is like 3 min. And there was only one cover which is GTBT which has only been played 6 times ever, is an awesome cover, and is only 3 min as well.

6/29's ending run of Typical, Ants > Halloween, Oh, LIOG (reprise) > Pig > Two Step is miles better than any run from LT 29 and then you get to add in DIDO, Joyride, JTR, Help Myself and a nice rare treat of Belly Full.

Idk Camden is much better IMO, but that's just my opinion!

Agreed. SU tunes are a buzz kill for me...except for YMDT, which is the only song I really ever liked off of the album.

We also love Gaucho, studio or live...although we've not heard it truly live (only recordings). It's a great song and I feel like it was a finger wagging at President Obama, in only the best and most respectful way. Reminds me of the Ani's lyrics from her song J: “Dude could be FDR right now/ but instead he’s shifting his weight”. Not that he could control anything once he fighting an openly hostile GOP Congress. Powerful tune and the kids choir works for me just like they did in Brick In the Wall.

    Also agreed.

HUGE highs, but the lows are so low, regardless of how short. In the moment I woulda definitely been excited about GTBT, but I'm not interested in hearing DMB waste set space w/ covers...especially ones they've ever done previously. The rare cover of a songs they've NEVER played before is cool though.

Some how a post didn't process...

We loved last night's show. Checked out the previous night's show and thought it wasn't quite as good, too many ED tunes, but some crazy good highs wi/ JTR, BT, and CF...

There are more songs off SU I prefer live than AFTW but looking forward to watching more of this show later today. I only caught about 20 minutes last night.

Same. I think the Wednesday before or after Labor Day weekend could get a gorge show. 2018 and 2019 both have some pretty decent gorge sets.

Yeah, I would think it’s a matter of time on Gorge. Surprised June and July didn’t have at least one of the other two venues though.

The LT 36 from Alpine would be fun. I like seeing pro-shot video from the acoustic sets. Of course, LT 15 or LT 8 would be even better.
