Re: What would you want in the 21st Anniv. package of BTCS?

Once again, this is how a reissue could be treated:

https://store.zappa.com/hot-rats/the...-preorder.html

Not belittling the vinyl crowd here, but yeah, offering up audio that we haven't heard is far more intriguing than simply getting a vinyl remaster.

That’s very cool but if they went back to all those multis I want surround mixes - Abbey Road was 8-track and the Dolby Atmos track is amazing! They also included a crap load of bonus content.

That's the weird part to me about DMB's reissues, no bonus material besides 3 songs on UTTAD.

For some reason, I'm not fully convinced that studio sessions for the "Big 3" didn't have a plethora of various takes of most, if not all songs. Not to mention, early demos, alternate full band mixes, etc...

Bands as popular as The Beatles and Metallica, to more niche bands/artists such as Frank Zappa and King Crimson have released deluxe reissues that have reached deep into the vault, or at the very least, released unheard material.

    Oh my goodness.

Just the thought of hearing The Stone and The Dreaming Tree in Dolby Atmos....

SACD releases should be the primary focus. That's what the fans would truly want. The polls here prove it. Especially when you factor in all the people that didn't vote.

Management needs to concentrate on SACD, and then maybe, MAYBE, look into releasing a demo or something on spotify.

What’s so wrong about releasing all the LTs, DMBLives, and Live In/At releases on Spotify and Apple Music. That’s not asking a lot.

It makes more money when you sell copies as opposed to putting it on streaming.

There's nothing "wrong" about releasing everything to streaming.

    Unless you want profits.

Well we know this band management puts profits over whats best for the fans at every turn, so shouldn't be surprising.

Gotta protect those killer Live Trax 42 profits! Might have to up shipping charges from $7-10 per t shirt if we go to Spotify!

Yeah how much can they realistically be making on multiple years old live trax cds? Selling a few hundred copies a year at best? That even seems like a stretch to me.

How much do you think it would make on streaming?

Plus, if they're added to streaming with regularity, that decreases purchases of new CDs.

Lets say in 2020, 5 copies of LT 42 are sold. It's still more revenue than streaming it would generate.

Its very little, im well aware. But when its such a small amount of cash being made, why not just make your fans happy? Theres plenty of money to be made on new ones as they are released.

And likely FAR more costly than streaming. Revenue ain't everything.

You'd think if almost all other artists have streaming figured out in 2019 that a band like DMB could pull it off, no?

It’s all about the money! Gotta keep producing physical WH CDs, the cardboard sleeves, and pay for the shipping! Can’t save money by making them digital!

You can buy digital for most things.

    Digital can be profitable.

    Streaming, not so much.

    Not my point.

They waste money by not making WH discs digital downloads.

Probably more money than they make on random ass LT releases months or years after they’ve been released.

Pretty easy to set a realistic breaking point on it. Were looking at 9 years of LT's they dont want to put up.

Even if they did it at 3 years I have a very hard time buying it would affect sales in any significant manner. People that want a show arent going to wait multiple years for it to show up on streaming.

    1. No, they haven’t. They pay for a membership which includes a members only compilation of songs which should be distributed digitally instead of wasting money and resources on a physical cd. Not to mention a cd places a time restriction on the selections thus forcing them to be hamstrung and waste a slot or two per year on another Why I Am or Satellite.

    2. Thanks for the massive brick of a worthless magnet!

I’m going to go ahead and guess that the LTs with the best sales numbers and highest historical demand are already on streaming services as well.

Re: What would you want in the 22nd Anniv. package of BTCS?

I love all the WH Volumes, Bonus discs and LT's. I hope that stuff continues. But I do think they're missing out on a minimal revenue stream. The 2nd hand market is thriving on those releases for newer fans or people that are back into the band after a temporary layoff. Some of them are seriously pricey.

They could re-issue them as either downloads and/or a physical media option. You know something like RSD Vinyl/limited pressings and/or downloads for those would have the potential to sell going forward. The exclusivity of a lot of that music is pretty cool & unique, though. It's an interesting 2nd hand fan market, for sure.

But yeah, they should master & press this up pronto. I'd love a package with extras and all, but this vinyl press seems way overdue. I bet missing BTCS on lp is an eyesore for any collector's out there.
