The full Gorge and Complete Weekend On The Rocks releases...

Either worth it for all 55-60 songs?

The Gorge box set pretty much sums up 2002. Lots of people clamor for a ‘02 LT, but the box set has me placated with that year. TCWOTR also sums up ‘05 very well too (a lot are probably thankful for that). Both special releases are probably the reason neither year has a representative LT selection.

I’m personally satisfied with tCWOTR giving us nearly all the live versions of Stand Up songs, several highlights sprinkled throughout, and a full band #34 with Roi within a full released show.

The Gorge isn't a bad release, Loving Wings, STJL are highlights...but Dave's voice isn't the greatest. TCWOTR is one of the best releases this band has ever put out, the mix is excellent, you could go on and on about the highlights (The Stone, Pig, YNK, Bayou) all of those are near definitive versions... it's a really, really great live set and well worth the money.

Sounds weird but you'll get chills watching them jam with Robert Randolph on Bayou on the 05 DVD. And the audio is 4 shows (8 discs), pretty cool to see how they laid it out.

The 2002 box set is cool, I believe it's 6 discs (3 shows), but the mix is a little weird.

Weekend on the Rocks mix is so crisp and tight. Great release.

Gorge mix is rough and Dave’s voice is shaky. Band sounds really good though.

    Isn’t Live Trax 40 from 2002?

Yes you’re right. But I’ve still seen lots of people on this site pleading for a spring or summer ‘02 show.

Gorge 2002 is an awesome release Imo. Daves voice is only rough on night 1, but the second and third night it’s fine. I love the GIG from n2 and the LBV - Halloween is one of the best ten minutes this band put out.

Agreed. I am truly blessed to have witnessed this in person and it is still one of my all-time favorite DMB moments. Just something about the combo of a lovely quiet Dave/Roi duet followed by an epic drum solo and a rockin' rhythm trio (Carter/Fonz/Dave) on Halloween with Dave singing an operatic outro. Still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

Yeah, Dave's voice is rough on Gorge N1, but it's great for N2 and N3. One of my favorite releases - probably my favorite versions of The Stone and Pig. I think both sets are definitely worth getting.

Are you serious? IMO if any release needed a remix/remaster, it's this one. It's sounds like they're playing inside a tin can

Are you listening to it through a tin can? Pretty much every one in the band is recorded and mixed incredibly well on CWOTR...the only song that sounds remotely weird is Seek Up and that's because Fonz's bass is out of tune in the intro.

Agreed. CWOTR sounds really good. The versions on the smaller WOTR package with the DVD do sound better, but the mic is still really nice on the complete one. Also, that Seek Up is worth the price alone!

I just listened to the ChesterCopperpot video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3X8ozNO89Y), compared to the release it's like they crammed the drums, the guitar and the vocals DEAD center, there's no sense of it being a stage, no room at all
Yeah, at least you hear every instrument here unlike most of the other releases, but I for one don't really enjoy the sound.

I'd say N2 and N3 of The Gorge and N3 of Red Rocks are a great listen

WOTR has the best LIOG post-97. Roi's underplaying throughout the jam is amazing. the mix on the whole set is stellar, but it's 2005 sets. at least they still sound like dmb.

2002 box set is flat sounding, but to reiterate is a good capture of the tour (or so i've been told)

I put WOTR in the likes of Radio City. both meh overall in terms of release, flow, etc; but the mix makes up for it on each

I had one of those nights while listening to my iPod with over 800 DMB songs. Every time a kickass version of a song would come on I would check and it was from the red rocks release. I’m now in the middle of listening to the entire four nights beginning to end. So damn good. I say it may be the best live release from the band. Previously I would have said Europe 2009 but right now I am liking this one better. Looking forward to a new live release with the current band. The gorge last year was amazing the best they have sounded in years IMO.

The Red Rocks release is amazing. The Gorge has a great setlist, but suffers from Dave's voice that weekend.

Gorge > Red Rocks. The Red Rocks is full of stand up, Carter's snare sounds like crap, and the mix is bad.

Gorge sets are better, Dave's voice is fine, and the quality of versions + no Stand Up make it much better.

Gorge 02 taper pulls are greater than the actual release... Hot take I know. But the official release leaves a lot to be desired. The DVD sounds good, but I honestly don't know if there's a difference in tracking.

Red Rock 05 It's flat, not dynamic, it might as well be a soundboard pull... when it came out... I was disappointed considering how the OG Red Rocks is still one of the best DMB shows in history. Thought they might try to give the mix a bit more love.. but it just was kind of like management just went here you go.. PBbbbth. Fart noises.. Give me $80 bucks.

However Night 4 is one of the best nights in the bands history. The set was way different than most 05 sets, Robert Randolph on LB and Neville Brothers on Exodus. They could have just released this night as an official release.

Again idk how anyone could listen to The Stone from WOTR release and say the mix is bad. Blows my mind.

I bought both of these sets when they were first released. I'd sold them around 2010 and always regretted it. Picking The Gorge set up used in my local shop a few months back really brought me fully back around to DMB's music again. I'd resigned myself to just losing out on the Red Rocks box. But one popped up om eBay at a reasonable price so I snagged it. With that one, my circle is complete. So grateful for all the music we have been fortunate to see releases for and looking forward to many more years of great sounds!

Both these sets represent their respective albums/tours and are a necessity for me to have in my collection.

both are good sets that basically stand as official representation of 02 and 05 for the band

Goddamn, I miss "complete" stand releases... EncoreTrax? Meh. Nice thought, but I'd much rather have both (or all three) nights from a stop (maybe as a WH exclusive option)....and then do an EncoreTrax with soundchecks, any tracks the guested on with other acts, and any radio/TV appearances they may have done during that stop...

This is a GREAT idea! This is the kind of release that the fanbase would get excited about! Especially from the 1995-2004 era.

Daaawww shucks... Thanks! I'm usually a pretty humble dude, but I gotta say that is fucking wonderful idea! It kinda seems like a missed opportunity so far, and might help the Warehouse retain some of those who are ready to jump ship. Hell, might even encourage new members, if they keep the bonus discs as WH-exclusives...
