Spoon sucks? yikes. I think spoon is a top 5 studio song and still very solid live. But studio is a masterpiece. Boyd, Roi, Tim and Bela’s work on the track is absolute perfection. Beautiful really.

It’s fantastic.. they’ve really nailed it the last few times they played it as well. Great tempo and great energy .

Yeah, except 2006 was 15 years ago, and 1993 was almost 30 years ago. As the band went on, they tried new things and changed their sound and evolved, except Boyd evolved into a skreeing mess that made the band sound worse. Now they don’t have that mess and sound pretty damn good. Are there some textures missing without the violin? Yeah, but I’d rather have those missing than to have a show with a great set list that is unlistenable because Boyd couldn’t get his shit together (aka most of 2003).

Kill the Preacher came out of the Mansfield Jam in 2012. It started out as a seemingly improv jam about Roi, then went into WIA which is obviously all about Roi. The lyrics changed to be about killing a preacher for some reason, but I imagine Dave still connects it to Roi somehow.

Fully agreed. My one and only rail experience opened with The Stone. Just the happiest tears, man. Couldn't tell you a single other song on the setlist that night but I know I was flying high for every second of it.

You can account for performance with it. Like, for me, DIDO is normal +1. But that near-trainwreck the other night would get a 0 (or maybe a -1 if it fully derailed)
