2.0 has some extremely high points, but the lows are some of the worst time periods for this band.

3.0 is tough, I like it but it's very different. 08-10 was a really good time and there are a lot of good shows in there, but the shows from 12 to 16 had more hit or miss moments.

not much to say about 4.0 yet because it's still so new, but I think there's a lot of promise.
Gotta agree. Early Dave's voice has grown on me. I love that sound they got in the early 90's. It's interesting to hear how some songs have changed, and some have stayed so similar. They are powerful songs!

2.0 is the best version and what DMB will always be known for. We all get it.

3.0 Breath of fresh air after the Stand Up era. Tim was amazing in 2013. Every song was exciting because you didn't know who was going to solo, or where the jams were going to be, even when Roi was out before his death, JC was exciting. It was just so cool watching what someone with his talent do with these songs that Roi had grown a bit bored of.

4.0 Time will tell. It's solid now.

So much this 98-04 is when DMB was such a great band. I think of the eras in terms of sound, rather than membership:

    1.0 - 1991-1997 pretty raw sounding
    2.0 - 1998-2004 polished, powerful, tight
3.0 - 2005-2007 the dark years, stale? sound
    4.0 - 2008-2017 revitalization, louder, more rocking
    5.0 - 2018+ trying to fill a void

The jams actually had some exploration in them and they seemed like they were hust loving playing music.

You could just tell how special these guys were just listening to those early shows. 94-95 was probably the most crucial time of the band, they went from openers to headliners in a span of months from late 94 to early 95. Then 1996 happened.

Anyone who wants to ignore this part of the band is missing out on what this band really is and was.
