Yes, you're right a billion dollar industry that is so deeply ingrained into American culture that one movie will likely be the downfall of an entire franchise. A movie so plummeting that some people actually liked and went on to make it one of the best selling blu ray of 2018.

I think a Rian Johnson spin off trilogy could be great. Even though I wasn't a big fan of TLJ, I really liked the themes he introduced and how he laid them out. I just didn't like it as part of the main story, because it undid so much.

TLJ was fine. Loved the final hour. Thought the whole middle was straight up stupid.

JJ will save us in the end though.

i liked the little things JJ did more, like the style of shots for the CGI portions, particular the falcon on jaku scenes...reminding me alot of the thing she nailed on Star Trek, too

there was some scuttlebutt this morning about a trailer coming soon.

Apparently shareholders saw some footage today, no title though.

A Disney shareholder shared some information about what was shown of Episode IX. It was behind the scenes stuff and a few scenes

not much of a spoiler but anyway copied from reddit:

"We saw a blockade runner in an abandoned looking hangar. An explosion knocking Stormtroopers in a starship hangar bay. Kylo Ren in a white room looking at the Vader helmet. Rey, Finn, Poe in Falcon cockpit. Lando briefly. Rey with Chewie's bowcaster. Finn in some abandoned looking ship interior."

Scott also says no mask for Kylo in that scene!

MORE:
•He (Kylo) was in a room like in the rebel Blockade runner style, that bright white. And he's looking down as a box or container opens to reveal the charred Vader helmet. Again, he's not wearing a mask.
•we saw a marketplace (?) scene with Rey walking through and some aliens.
•white room kind of looked like the interior of the Rebel Blockade runner. That bright white look.

UPDATE 2: Scott says that the white room we saw Kylo in could be harkening back to Vader's meditation chamber is not a bad idea and might be it so maybe something in the structure of the room is similar to what he saw in the footage
