When it’s all a particular response warrants, that’s what it gets. And no, it’s not all I ever have in response, but it’s always fun to stop by and read nonsense.

This is the "insider" that was asking someone to verify their Derek & Susan guesting info while there was literally a video of them warming up with the band on DMB Family after all.

Hartford will definitely be topped by an Alpine, DC, or SPAC show but it was far superior to Jacksonville N1. If there was a poll it would blow Jacksonville out the water.

Just glad Mansfield and Hartford had a lot of great songs, they are always going to add more of them but it sucks for people paying the same amount and seeing crap sets. Loved the new songs and they are playing together really well, balanced in their playing and good mix.

I mean I wasn’t saying it was obviously Jax over Hartford. I said “may”. “Far superior”? I mean, no? They’re both very strong and have a lot of the same songs (8). I guess I’ll truly compare then.

Jax N1 Great: Warehouse opener, Maker, You Never Know debut, Jane, first Too Much closer since 2015

If Maker as a cover for you is an issue then yikes, Jimi is sounding great this year so that’s a plus, and you’re in the VAST minority thinking SMTS Bridge TM needs a break especially when that was the first time TM had closed a set in 7 years.

Hartford Great: The Stone!!!!!!! and Say Goodbye debuts, unique SAWG e1, Two Step

Hartford also had Funny, Hands of God, and Can’t Stop

Both really good and top 2 of the tour. So, I stand by what I said previously.

I don't mind the maker I just think a good DMB song is superior to 99% of the covers they do. I go do DMB shows to see good DMB songs and that is what the Hartford show did.

As far as the SMTS > Bridge > Too much the chatter when talking to people offline and on live stream chats/calls is that it is a big block of the show that takes away from a deeper cut or a solid staple song. Sure it hasn't closed out a set in a while but it's still is something in high frequency of the last few summer tours.

I think LITHOG has been a song that not only is unique and the real tribute to roi but the ABI vocal interpolation gets fans hyped. Funny is one I hated for a while but it is quick unlike a 16 min Jimi thing but I do agree Can't Stop is a song I want missing.

Warehouse while a good song had the standard UTTAD intro and people were complaining that it was overplayed this year with 11 total plays and Jax was the 9th. And again that encore in Jax was absolute abysmal you could argue it was one of the worse encores of the tour to do STTMB to Cornbread.

It was actually nice to go a full weekend without Warehouse, Watchtower, Jimi Thing, SMTS > Bridge Too Much, and Sledgehammer. That's why the majority of the chatter online is about being in awe of Hartford and not about "But yeah Jacksonville was better". Again another 2 night stand will blow away Hartford but for now the overall vibes I am getting talking to the online community from DMB Family to ants to other sub groups is that Hartford was the best show so far.

I'd appreciate if the triplets took a break. Just seems like filler at this point and an easy spot to throw in a couple more tunes we haven't seen in a while.

Triplets aren't taking away from anything, dudes. They are in the radio songs section of the setlist creation So if they play...you might not get Billies, Satellite, What Would You Say, Don't Drink, Funny, Why I Am, etc... that night.

I don't think its "Aw man, they played the triplets. Looks like we aren't getting Crazy Easy tonight!". Pretty sure that's not how it works with his set creation.

The true SMTS>Bridge>Too Much went away starting in the middle of 2008 and didn't really return proper until around 2013 and kind was sparse 2014-2016 too. During that time 2008 time period I thought I was tired of it, but when it went away, I realized I was just being a song chasing snob and I actually missed it. Its one of the best of the "everyone enjoys it" portion of what they do in any given show.

I agree with you--it's absolutely not.

I don't hate them, but with many song choices, I've grown tired of it. That's all.

The triplets means I'm very likely to hear Too Much in about 5-6 minutes which is the song that drew me to the band back in 1996 and one I still love to this day

. Wish more people had this awareness.

I swear, if LITHOG was on a Big 3 album, it’d be automatically sacred.

If Jimi hadn’t been played in 10 years, its liberation would be epic.

But nah. People have this weird ego trip with being a TRUE fan.

Hold on, people complained about the UTTAD intro to Warehouse to open a show? And it’s overplayed?

    Well that’s just…something…

Also, who actually thinks if DMB takes out the triplets they’re going to substitute some deep cuts?

These are some truly awful takes. And again, I’m not trying to staunchly argue that Jax N1 was a better show. Fewer duds and some nice unique power slots but Hartford had higher highs.

People will now even backtrack on songs that I'm sure most would agree are staples that they would "hear at any show" just to bitch about this tour. Too many staple great songs getting regular play wish they would take a break. Can't make this shit up.

If Jimi hadn’t been played in 10 years, its liberation would be epic.

But nah. People have this weird ego trip with being a TRUE fan.

There's nothing wrong with feeling certain songs should take a break. 200+ song catalogue and everyone wants to hear something different and everyone has a different opinion. Again, I said nothing about "deep cuts". It all comes to variety and simply said swap out triplets for something else, anything else. Nothing to do with "hardcore" fandom. Just variety. and just my opinion.

hopewelljones hit it on the head - jimi WOULD be epic if it debuted after a long time. That all comes back to my point - variety.

They actually haven't played triplets in 6 shows, so it kinda is taking a break now.

I agree in some ways. Variety is a great thing I look for in DMB sets too. Anyone that truly understands what variety means knows that might result in different and sometimes maybe less desirable songs being played but the sets stay fresh. Of course songs any single person would like to see pop up varies person to person and all personal preference so no one will ever be totally happy. I think there is a balance to be struck that songs like Warehouse, Triplets, Nancies, and Ants have a place in every set as just staple DMB songs. There is room for variety outside of a core rotation of staple songs and if there is slot variety on where those staple songs pop up in a set to keep them fresh even better ('22 is fantastic in this department).

You could argue that if DMB played SMTS > Bridge > Too Much in Hartford they would have had to cut Break Free or Break For It. A Jimi Thing in the Hartford set and maybe you don't get a Stone or Say/Bye.

Obviously they aren't playing MacHead or Monkey man without the triplet but just getting things like Break for it and Break Free in the same set isn't possible if they pad the set with longer meh songs. The Meh songs in Hartford which I consider Cant Stop (you could argue Funny but as I said i think it's more tolerable in 2022 than it was in the 2009-2013 era where it was annoying).

And Hartford on the ants tour central page as I post is tied for the best show flow with Charleston N1 with 41%. That doesn't happen with a Jimi and Triplet thrown in and a few other songs thrown out.

I mean, deep cuts or nah, the triplets aren't in that variety or even of a medium level cut. That trio includes 2 of their biggest hits from their biggest album. One of which landed them their only Grammy as a band. They are also pretty damn good songs.

The only songs these two are swapping with are already probably in heavy rotation, so its kind of null. Some nights you get Satellite and What Would You Say. Some nights you get So Much To Say and Too Much. Sometimes you get Don't Drink the Water and Crush. Space Between...Funny...Where Are You Going...You & Me...Stay...

The only radio singles they never play much ever are I Did It, American Baby, Dreamgirl, Mercy and If Only.
