Not it.
San Diego is pretty nice in October / November... Torrey anyone?

Is it easy for non-residents to get on? Heard it can be difficult.

Definitely a tough time to get. They introduced advanced booking (out to 90 days) but you have to tack on an additional $30 per player, which is stupid.

I've only played it once since moving out here a few years ago. I'm hoping to try to play it after the Open in July. Twilight on the North course is $28 to walk.

I've played it three times (2x South, 1x North). First time my dad and I made a tee time in advance. They charge you for the tee time.
Second and third time, my buddy and I went at 530ish in the morning and put our bags in line. First time of the day is at 630. I think I teed off around 720 and 650.

I played Torrey South in 2016 after the DMB shows in Chula Vista and Irvine, but I think we had one of my brother’s friends from when he lived in San Diego (and still lived there) make the time.

Played this morning, seems like I’m finally coming out of my slump. Didn’t hit the ball all too well (still tinkering with different drivers and shafts) but the hours I’m putting in on the practice green are paying off. 31 putts today, outside of one mad deceleration-caused 3 putt, everything medium to long range was either made or in tap in range. Feels good that the time is paying off, just gotta keep doing it.

I really need to get to practicing more. Going to try to hit the range and practice green once a week. Makes a world of a difference when putts are falling and chips give you real chances to make putts.

Torrey would be a little too far for me. If we're serious we could try to find something more central.

Glad to hear things are going in the right direction Flynny.

I had forgotten how to turn my 5 iron and 4 iron into more of a driving swing off the tee, got coached up a bit on it, such a good option to have

Shoulder tilt at address, play the ball more forward, stay back through impact (don't get ahead of it). I'm a draw player and it's great to be able to hit effortless high draws with long irons into the middle of fairways or reach longer par 3's more easily.

No golf for me this weekend, but if all my chips fall in place I'll have 6 rounds between the 16th and 27th this month

This is something I want to focus on during my lesson I have coming up in early July. I used to only play irons when I first started playing a ton of golf. I was absolutely money with my 4 iron, but lost that shot now that I'm proper off the tee with driver and hybrid.

I'll still hit a bomb 4 iron once in a while, but it's so inconsistent.

Smoking a long iron out of the fairway or first cut on an approach shot is a top 5 golf feeling

The staying back through impact can be hard to explain, essentially I have a lot of shoulder tilt at address and feel like I'm hitting the ball at the clouds, definitely not hanging back and scooping though. Makes me consider getting a driving iron at some point.

My 2H is point and shoot when I’m playing well. Killer weapon off the tee.

Seeing my swing on camera tonight for the first time in a while and yikes did it get long. Explains the blocks and the snap hooks.
Pounded a huge bucket of balls with what felt like 50% back swings to try and fix it for Sunday.

Yeah, that's a higher level of focus compared to me lol. I'm still in the 'make sure my pace is fluid' phase with my swing. I have adjusted ball placement to be further up.

Being more on the amateur side of the spectrum, my ball flight is naturally lower, which helps on tee shots.

Had the first tee time of the day today with my best buddy. Played the whites for a little confidence boost after our match play loss last week.

Ya boy shot an 83! With 8 GIRs and even par on the back. I took three penalties on the front and had three 3 putts on the front as well. Eliminate a few of those mistakes and I have a legit shot at breaking 80. I also only had 13 putts on the back including five one putts in a row to close out the round.

Literally the best golf I’ve ever played. Great start to the weekend! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Driving iron is hard as hell to hit, IMO, and itís not versatile.

Iíve tried every solution off the tee, and I thought that was the worst.

Would definitely be something Iíd want to get fitted into at a place with some premium shaft options.

I have thought about putting a 4iron to match my iron set in the bag. Itís probably not much different than a driving iron.

There's a reason I don't have a driving iron yet, I may consider it but will probably hold off

I would love to check the lofts on an old set from the 80's compared to today. Since they keep lowering the lofts, I'm guessing an old 3 iron is close to a modern 5 iron.

Yeah buddy. Took penalties on 2 (pulled right into woods), 3 (hit my tee shot into the water short) and 8 (pushed tee shot left OB, still had a birdie putt after hitting my 3H out of the left rough).

I know youíve played Oaks before- first 6 holes are just impossibly tight. Not really difficult otherwise but with no range there to warm up itís a pretty unforgiving way to start a round with needing such precision like that.

Yup... it's not a very friendly start. Manageable course overall, but need to keep your drives contained. Same shit with Balboa, so much trouble if you're barely off the fairways.

Yep, doing the regular Sunday thing. Hoping I don't get soaked. Looks like the rain is going to hold off until the afternoon. Fingers crossed.

6:48 on Sunday. I think that’s as early as it gets this year.

Might be able to make it south for our league tonight, but I have a sub. Would probably just go off with the last group if make it.

Nice, dude. Threat of rain for a round of golf always stinks. We literally could not have had better golfing weather today, it's the best thing in the world.

I've played twice since the lockdown was lifted. If I can convince my wife to head to the cottage on Wed I'll get 6 rounds in over the next 2 weeks though to make up for lost time!
