Sicko, haven’t yet jumped into vinyl but I know you all have been calling for mix big jam compilations on vinyl. Sounds really cool.

Well it depends if they are truly GA or just areas without seats. You could have a GA area and make designated PODS and ticket GA areas that way. The PODS worked tremendously well at Suwannee Rising. You could easily “PODS” any venue, seats or no seats. Have designated color sections then specific subsections within each color (ie Green, Isle 5, pod 2). You could only get into your color with the correct color arm band, etc.

The “never gonna work with spun out wooks” is what the naysayers were saying before Rising too. It just didn’t pan out that way. We were in a pod “on the rail” right in front of the Jam Stage (which was the one with Big Something, Goose and Umphreys). We had one of the most desirable PODS there and yet had a total 3 people come into our pod over the entire 3 days/nights of the fest, for all of like 10min combined. 2 of the 3 people asked very polite us if they could come in for a min and we said yes, then the third was indeed a spun out weird middle aged lady. Point being we experienced and witnessed only VERY minimal PODS crashing/hopping. People were exceptionally well mannered and stuck to the process. I suspect Phish fans would as well.

Deer Creek date is 8-13/14 (weekend after scheduled phish dates). So very plausible to think phish tour isnt dead yet.

If true this is excellent news for the entire live music community. Any rumors on capacity limits?

For those unfamiliar, MusicDirect is legit and doesn’t have a history of selling bootlegs (some folks elsewhere have questioned if this is legit). They are the parent company of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi), and the label info suggests these are JEMP as well

Limiting capacity Im completely fine with. But you gotta have more than just one run of 3 shows in one location every several months or it’s gonna be a cluster fuck. And it’s very un-fancentric to do it that way.

and that's a big reason why i'm so skeptical about indio. for all intents and purposes, that's a festival. i'd be so surprised if its their "redemption" fest after the curveball debacle.

then again, in these unprecedented times, they're probably just anxious to get fans out to see them in whatever capacity

I was listening to SiriusXM this morning and Trey was doing an audio spot and he talked about how the original guitarist from the B-52s, Ricky Wilson, was a “huge influence“ on his guitar playing. Never would have guessed that in a million years. Learn something new about this guy every day.

Wondering if both of those releases see a bigger release than just MusicDirect. Wonder if they're indie exclusives or "imports"? I really want them but I'm gonna roll the dice and hope that I can get them from a different source.

I’d be super down with that! I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed my Phish shows in NC. Think I’ve only done one Raleigh show but dug it. Charlotte 2019 is one of my favorite shows I’ve been to over the past several years. They could probably do a fairly normally appearing SE run by mid-late summer if they so chose. Which is part of the reason the proposed mini runs only in NYC/CO/Cali pisses me off so much.

If these DMB rumors come true (the momentum seems STRONG in favor of them being legit), it could be a game changer for the entire industry. I haven’t giving DMB much props over the past decade or so (deservedly so I’d say), but kudos to them if they are indeed the first big act to proceed with a relatively normal tour. Could open up the gates for a lot of other acts to follow.

DMB tour dates dropped and it was a bomb. Extensive tour starting mid July and traversing essentially all parts of the country.

You’re up next on the tee box, Phish. Don’t shank one into the water, you’re better than that.

dmb is more of a machine than phish so i'm still not expecting much of a summer tour from them

Probably reasonable expectations but would be really hard to justify the Dicks/Indio/Cali/Mexico runs only plan that was rumored yesterday.

You also gotta think that Trey is just itching to get out there and play again. Granted it only takes one (*cough* Mike *cough*) to prevent them from being out there as Phish, but shit I’d even take a socially distanced TAB show at this point. Need some live Trey in my life, let’s make it happen!

I can't wait for a proper tour so we can get midtour Phish. These one offs just don't excite me all that much. Splitting up weekends like that seems harder to gel when you're a jamband. SCI has moved in that direction and, imo, their jams are suffering a bit from it.
