Re: Tour De France

Yeah, not surprising at all. Plus, its a % of total time and Kittle spends many many more minutes climbing those mountains, and is still in Zone 4/5 the whole time.

In other news, freaking incredible final hour of Strade Bianche yesterday. MvdP is going to be a force in the classics for many years.

. Poor guy, and on the final stage too. Maybe its intentional? He's like "screw that county, they call fermented cows milk 'fromage'. Savages!"

Yeah he's looked great but crashing twice and almost a 3rd time won't do anything for that. Is he racing the Tour?

I would assume so. I know Bernal is focused on the Giro, but would guess that Roglic wants another head to head with Pogacar. Sounds like Roglic dislocated the shoulder in the first crash, which probably affected his handling causing the second crash and nearly a third.

Would like to see Bernal at the Tour.

Goddamn, Ineos is just slaughtering everyone at the Volta a Catalunya. Back to being a dominant powerhouse after last years slip, maybe?

And Froome looking predictably terrible. Cant even stay in the Peloton on stages. That team vastly overpaid for him. Pro cycling is historically unkind to aging.

I was assuming it was a combo of Yates and Thomas, and letting it work itself out on the road. I don't see them using Porte as a GC guy, he's 36 so I would guess more of a super-domestique who may win a stage or two. Taking all 3 podium spots is a nice statement that last years implosion in the Tour was just a blip.

I love seeing all the CX riders doing incredibly well in the classics, hoping we get a hotly contested Paris-Roubaix this year.

Chris Horner is a terrible play by play announcer. He makes some reference to a "5 star" something a dozen times each 5k. And Bob Roll really needs someone better to keep him in check. Those two together almost make we want to not watch races.

He is anywhere from +10,000 to +30,000...

If the two favorites don't win it's going to be wild because everyone else is like at least 10/1. I don't gamble but like to check the odds.

Major bummer for Sam Bennett, but having Cavendish back for one more go could be fun. His form has been pretty good this year for a 36 year old sprinter.

The overall looks to be a pretty straight battle between Roglic and Pogachar, and just to hedge my bets I'll take David Gaudu as my darkhorse pick this year. I hope Pogachar has been working on his ITT form as this year there is no uphill time trial. But UAE has also massively beefed up the support around him this year so... should be a very fun tour to see play out on the road.

And it now sounds like hes skipping the Tour, and Olympics, to focus on the Vuelta and Worlds. Bummer, France needs their top riders in the home race.
