I'm aware of the examples and I agree that it happens too much. The same response with the all caps emphasis every time the topic comes up is just a little much.

That being said, there are also plenty of 2-3 night stands where a single show release or a single show plus a bonus disc would easily cover what we really need to hear.

Edit: One example of a run that I definitely want released but could probably just be a single show plus bonus disc is Red Rocks 98. 9 songs from N1 are repeated on N2 so they could easily pick the better show and take all the non-repeats from the other to fill a bonus disc.

I just assume if it was being tossed around as a possibility it was already mixed. And judging by their past last minute decisions, it appears like they have more than one in the queque ready to go in case of last minute changes.

I remember talking about Red Rocks 98 in that thread, and I did some back reading. Nothing was really definitively said about Red Rocks other than that it was supposed to be released at some point, but hadn't been.

Red Rocks 98 was rumored at one point. Sadly, there was an issue that prevented it from being released.

I've heard about the issues with Red Rocks 98 (although I won't be 100% convinced its never coming until somebody confirms that the tapes are destroyed), but my point still stands - This is a great two night run that can easily be captured with a single show release plus a bonus disc. Not every multi night run needs or deserves a full release.

On a related note I also doubt we'll ever get a multi night Live Trax again. It just seems like, for example, "DMB Live From Giants Stadium: 6/11/01-6/13/01" would sell a lot better than "Live Trax Volume fifty-whatever: Giants Stadium 6/11/01-6/13/01". It worked early on because Live Trax was still new and exciting, but at this point it'll be a lot easier to get a non-collector to buy a single box set rather than jump into a series 55 releases later. I imagine a series with that many installments is just white noise to more casual fans.

I agree with the bold. But about bonus discs... I don't think they are going to do them anymore. They didn't do an Encore Trax for 50 or 54. And they aren't doing the Warehouse discs anymore for "environmental" reasons. Of course there will still be the digital editions, so I'd imagine any future bonus "disc" will also be digital only. But I do agree with your position on multi night releases. Some absolutely need the full weekend/run. Others can be captured just fine with one night, maybe a bonus download from the other night(s).

I've recently gone back to LT 29 and 43, both 2013 shows. Wow, that's a better tour year than I remember. They were playing CAPTAIN and they just sounded great. Anyone agree? And do we need more from that year?

If my gut feeling is correct, why would there have been any discussions of releasing it? Did it come straight from a bandmember or Capshaw similarly how he's gone on record saying he was targeting a specific fall '94 show for release in that we think he meant a different night, which hasn't happened yet?
