I noticed this the other day, shocking how many unsold there are at this point. The pavilion at this place is really huge, but still. They damn near sold out 2 nights at Northerly last year. Though, that was a weekend in the city and this is a weeknight in the burbs...

A lot of people should have the day off the next day though.

The poor sales for this show does not bode well as far as us getting a Chi show in addition to Alpine on the same tour again. Unless they space them out like they have in the past, which think is unlikely based on more recent tours, I think we're only ever going to see one or the other moving forward.

I have several friends who I would consider more casual fans (see them locally once every summer) that are opting for an Alpine show over Tinley and sticking to other plans for/around the holiday. I bet a lot of folks out there are thinking along the same lines.

I'd probably go to this show, if it wasn't directly after Deer Creek.

I mean, to me, this is preferable to losing Alpine in favor of Chicago shows like we did in '14 and '18. I know Summerfest was the main driver behind no Alpine, but that also allowed them to book 2 nights in Chicago.

I am from Chicago and I'd rather have Alpine 100 times out of 100.

It almost seems like this Tinley date was booked because it was convenient slotted right between Deer Creek and Alpine. Even if Tinley is a half full house that's still another payday for the band and LN on what otherwise would have been an off-day and an empty building.

To the bolded, same for me and I 100% agree. It's a nice bonus to have a 3rd show within an hour(ish) drive though.

You're probably right about this year's Chi date just being logistically easy to add in the schedule and extra revenue. I just wish they would space out some of the midwest dates like they used to. If they did that, they could do both Alpine and Chi and likely still sell well enough for all 3. Maybe something like DC and Chi early and Alpine later in tour?

Perhaps management (and the crew?) are just getting as lazy as Dave is with setlists these days and opting for what is easier for them. I feel like there's a lot less folks who will go to all 5 of these shows in a week span than there would've been in years past and that's just sales lost when the driving factor for them these days is clearly just $$$.

Absolutely. They've done that in the past too In '09, Alpine was 3rd weekend in July and then they swung back and played Tinley in September. The two years before that, they played Toyota Park early in July and then did Alpine in August. In 2010 Alpine over 4th of July and then Wrigley in September.

My big shows every year are #1 Alpine and #2 Deer Creek. I aim to hit those every summer and if there's a convenient show in Chicago or otherwise nearby (Moline in '16, etc) then that's just a bonus.

I'm looking for a solid pair for this show. I was an amateur and must not have clicked the box opting out of lawn.

I'm sure tickets will pop up closer to July 3rd, but I'm interested in good seats.

Decided to arrive in Chicago and catch a Wednesday show before heading to Alpine. Just scrubbed the board and guess in a nutshell see there’s no tailgating at Tinsley and the venue may or may not be better than Northerly. Besides that, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. We’re staying a couple miles away, anyone walk to the venue? Links for shuttles? Thanks in advance.

The venue kind of stinks unless you are close, then it doesn't really matter. I'd try to be in the main pavilion if possible, further back seats and lawn can have bad sights/sounds.

I've only been to this venue once recently and it was a year or two back for the Kings of Leon / Nathaniel Rateliff show. We got to that area early to avoid traffic and went to a sports bar called "Odyssey Sweet Spot". Weird place, but they kind of go for the tailgating type vibe on concert days. We got there early, but it got pretty crowded in there and I think there was a cover later on - but not a terrible option overall.

We walked to the show and it's not super close or a great walk, but it's definetly doable. My map says its about .6 miles to the venue, felt a bit longer than that but not horrible. We were in the front half of the main pavilion for the show and it was solid, but I think the venue was pretty empty overall.

I think there are probably a few other options, but you will be in a random suburb of Chicago - no real bar scene or great tailgating option.

I mentioned in another thread how this show would be low attendance due to Alpine and the 4th of July long weekend. I got ridiculed by all the people claiming "Chicago always sells out." Chicago locals empty out for the 4th and the city is crowded with tourists wanting to go to Navy Pier. Northerly Island would have been a better pick IMO for attendance numbers. I am pumped for the show, but the trek to Tinley sucks a fat one and a pain in the ass to get home.

The trek to Tinley and home is easy for me 15 min door to door I am pumped to not have to go downtown for this. Watch with the low attendance,
This be one of those sneaky good shows

Someone on Facebook organized an unofficial "tailgate" at a local microbrewery nearby which looks like a good time.

I'm not doing this, but it would be the bar/bus I would chose if I was. Solid little neighborhood pizza place / bar in Lincoln Park that has somewhat of a DMB theme.

I really like this place too. Great location, great food and drink. Friendly staff. I love the fact they have 3 DMB posters on display plus other DMB stuff.

Not doing it either but that's not really a bad deal... I think a Uber one way from those two locations is roughly $35.00 each way.

I'm not doing this, but it would be the bar/bus I would chose if I was. Solid little neighborhood pizza place / bar in Lincoln Park that has somewhat of a DMB theme.
Thank you. I was waiting for them to offer the bus. Booking two tickets now.

I am pumped for the show, but the trek to Tinley sucks a fat one and a pain in the ass to get home.
I agree that Northerly would have been a better pick.

I came from Minnesota to see both DMB shows last year and the N2 D&T show the year before at Northerly and had a great time but had seats for all 3 shows.

I don't think I'd enjoy seeing it from the lawn, but after figuring out the bus is the best way of getting to and from that venue I wouldn't ever hesitate going there again. I'm skipping the Tinley show this year because as someone traveling to Chicago, Tinley is too far away from the city to easily get there and too close to the 4th of July where I don't want to be traveling on the holiday even if it's only an hour flight for me. If they would have done 2 nights at Northerly the weekend before the 4th I would have not hesitated at all about going to see them again.

As for replacing Northerly with Alpine, and I know I'm in the minority on these boards about it, I really don't enjoy 5 hour drives, I'm not a camper and the hotels around there are insanely expensive, and don't consider tailgating all day how I want to spend my vacation days because there really isn't much to do there.

Compare that to Chicago last year where it's a cheap 1 hour flight to get there, I was staying on average $89/night in a really nice downtown hotel, great restaurants, plenty of museums, tours, the zoo, and other things to do during the afternoons seeing them at Northerly is something I'd do every year simply because it's a complete vacation for me not just hanging around until the concert starts.
