Singles do not instantly equal hits.
Ants, billies, crash, DDtW, y&m, SMTS, etc. are songs that casual fans know & hope to hear. The band could/should play 4 of these a night and still have a huge amount of flexibility w/ the rest of the set. I’m talking each of them getting played during at least half of the shows…every other night or so. I lack enthusiasm for most of these songs, but I’m not the only one at a show & I’m good w/ any artist appeasing the casual fan to an extent.
Per billboard, these are dmb’s biggest hits, the Hot 100 sightings:

And several of these are played, but most are not being played at at least half the shows, some are rare, others need to be liberated if we want to hear them again. Again most bands play their biggest hits almost every night of the tour, DMB might play some of them for almost half of the dates. It’s like the sets are better because they play them less. I’ll take most hits over Bayou and several other songs that we’ve been hear ad nauseous for the last few tours.
