It seemed to work for others so I’m gonna post here too. Looking for two pit tickets for one or both nights.

Re: *** Official Oklahoma 2021: COME SEE FOR YOURSELF!***

I went to two Old Dominion concerts at this venue / casino last weekend. We stayed at the casino and had a fantastic weekend. Everything about the casino, venue, staff, etc is all top notch.

The venue is really small. Feels smaller than 3,000 to be honest.....the floor was all seated for Old Dominion and was only 15 rows front to back. The soundboard is directly on the floor in the back. They will be able to pack a lot more folks on the floor with GA but the sightlines and sound are all great from what I saw.

Lots of restrooms close to the floor (I was 5th row dead center middle of the section and walked out of my row to the bathroom and back in < 5 mins). Lots of drink vendors and they even let you bring beers in off the casino floor through security. They had a merch stand outside the venue for OD that made it possible to buy a poster and take it directly back to your room without even needing to roll.

I didn't make it off the floor into the higher levels but I can't imagine any bed seats. The theater did remind me of a real theater. Seats in the 300/400 level very vertical and lots of tables along the edges. Really nice looking.

The casino experience was also fantastic. Full smoking and non smoking casinos available. I don't really do any table games but had fun throwing some money at slots and was even up on the weekend. We stayed in the Grand Tower and it's right in the middle of everything. They have an entirely new tower and additional casinos/restaurants opening in August that will be open for DMB weekend. They have a little bar right outside the theater that had a great country artist playing both nights starting post show. Hopefully something similar will happen for DMB.

Main swimming pool was a lot of fun. Two swim up bars we enjoyed and the pool was heated. May be in play in October depending on weather but, if not, they still have fire pits and outdoor bars. Lots of cabanas available for rent that have TV's....could be fun for college football Saturday. They will also have a giant new pool and lazy river opening with the expansion.

If you aren't staying on site, I'd highly recommend it. It's expensive but we had a great time and can't wait to check out more shows here.

The only negative was the traffic getting into Durant Thursday early afternoon (and the entire weekend) is horrendous. They are doing a big expansion of the road through town and it's really jamming the end of the drive up. If you're staying offsite recommend allowing a lot of time. We drove in Thursday at 1 pm and sat in traffic for easily 20 mins with the casino buildings in site. Hopefully it's improved by October but seems like they had a lot to do still.

    Happy to answer any questions!

If anyone wants to know how expensive a weekend this is likely to be... I live in OKC, after researching tickets/stay, etc for Durant we said we might as well go to WPB instead... so that’s what we did.

Hey man, I wanted to thank you for posting your OD review. Four of us are heading to this venue from Chicago for the DMB shows in October, and having this insight is super helpful.

We currently have reservations at the Hy Lo hotel that's ~1 mile away, so we were planing to walk to/from the casino or use the free shuttle. Any opinions/thoughts would be welcomed...

    Cheers,
    Mike

It's like any dmb concert weekend. It can be as cheap or as expensive as you want based on accommodations/food/booze. I have friends staying 20-30 mins from the casino in a cheap hotel that want to do things as cheap as possible. Im splitting a casino room with three buddies and it's not terrible.

Pit tickets were pretty easy to come by for warehouse members so no reason anyone should be spending the $350/ticket price.

I guess if you assume the higher ticket price and assume your only option is staying onsite at the casino without splitting a room it can add up. But sitting pit and staying offsite I don't see any price difference vs when I lived in Chicago and drove down to Indianapolis for a creek weekend.

    Hey Mike!

I lived in Chicago burbs for 10 years before moving down to Houston 1.5 years ago.

Seeing where that's located I'd guess walking will be difficult. 75/69 is a highway that separates you from the casino. Think 50 mph speed limits. Can't really cross it as a pedestrian. Down on Choctaw Rd there may be a crosswalk but I can't remember. But like you said you can always use a shuttle so probably a good cost saving. You shouldn't have much traffic trouble driving over from there....if you're off the highway there's a back up to cross on Choctaw road but it's not bad.

You will be able to enjoy all the bars/casino stuff at Choctaw but they guard pool entry from non hotel guests pretty heavily so don't plan on that.

Thanks Matt! We moved out to the western suburbs 3 years ago, but spent 15 years living one mile West of Wrigley. I consider Alpine my home concert venue, can't wait to get back there.

Appreciate the response and additional details. Really looking forward to the small venue in OK.

Fair enough; for me, going with my wife, when I priced staying at the Casino and buying tickets, etc my total was just about equal to flight, hotel, and 2 nights at Fiddlers (this was back before 2020 tour got banged). Then, you factor in that we live here and we know how bad that area sucks and there is nothing to do aside from the Casino itself and it wound up being this weird deal where going to a local show wasnít even an option. So it was like, drive to Durant, kick around the Casino for two days (again, there is nothing else around there) go to two shows OR spend a weekend in Denver and go to two shows for virtually the same price? Easy decision.

Iím not ragging on anyone who is going to the Durant shows. Just illustrating how randomly expensive this particular weekend set is lining up to be compared to other shows. I donít know, just seems unnecessarily complicated to me, especially considering they arenít doing the TX run this year. I know they have their reasons, but I find it an odd choice. Just wish they would have chosen to play OKC or Dallas instead.

Wife is looking at staying at the casino hotel (start at $350/night), and sees there's a KOA campground across the street with a shuttle to the casino, $55/night. Thinking of treating this as a 2 night Gorge camping weekend? Rent a mini-van at the Dallas airport, sleep in the mini-van, then head over to the casino for the day

Doing Durant as opposed to a Texas weekend makes absolutely no sense from a fanbase standpoint.

Is it cool they are playing a tiny venue? Absolutely.
Is it cool to hang out at Vegas style casino/pool/etc all weekend? Sure
Is this show really accessible to most fans? Not at all. I'll give them Dallas being covered since its ~60 miles away, but there are no other population centers nearby.

The fact they'd choose to make 3,000 fans travel to 2 shows here vs. offering 40,000+ fans a chance to see a show over two nights in Houston and Dallas is a crappy choice.

But we all know the casino throws the $$$ at bands and that's influencing their decision to play at Choctaw vs. a typical run. Hope this is a one off and we get normal summer shows at the amphitheaters next year.

In reality, by choosing Choctaw and not doing any Texas shows they are leaving over 10% of the US population out in the cold from having a nearby show. Pretty wild for a band who has been known for 2 decades to play extensively across the entire US.

If you're planning to rent a car I'd secure a reservation as soon as possible. Lots of shortages and elevated prices across the country. I'm doing Gorge and saw several rental companies already sold out for LDW in Seattle.

I know some other folks in the DMB Texas facebook group talking about organizing folks at the campground so I'm sure it will be a fun atmosphere.

Yep, I've got a National Rental out of DAL from THUR to SUN, 3 days, at $154 total ($37/day) thru my companies corporate account #. Without it the cost would be $320 ($80/day). And the only thing I have booked for the Gorge is the rental car; no flights, tickets, etc. Probably not going. But the National Car is THUR Noon to MON Noon (4 days) for $220, any vehicle in the EXEC aisle.

The key is finding a corp acct #. Flyertalk.com is a great travel message board with lots of info for every airline, hotel, car rental, credit card, etc

Yep, same for me. Corporate account number for everything this year....lucky our company is good with it for personal travel. I have a few separate car reservations for myself and the other guys in our crew. Will evaluate what we need when it gets closer but it was nuts for gorge. To add one for a buddy the corporate account was the only way I could get a reservation, national was sold out otherwise.

Cross the bridge when we get there but i'm going to Arkansas and hitting Durant on the way back since I live in Dallas, but the point is i'll have my car, so if a couple of you need transportation or anything during the Durant weekend i'm sure i can help out. I'm not staying at the venue, instead staying at a cheaper place that's under a mile away.

My wife and I are flying into Dallas for these shows. Can anyone recommend any outdoor activities/hikes or romantic getaways in northern Texas or southern Oklahoma that would be worth checking out? We will be there for 7-9 days and weíre looking for something fun.

The Arbuckle area in southern part of OK offers a number of outdoor activities. That area is really the only scenic part in that area of state. If youíre interested in driving farther, Broken Bow (OK) is absolutely gorgeous and has all kinds of outdoor stuff to do.
