Tales from the DMV

So in PA when you get your learner's permit, you need to wait 6 months until you can take your road test and get your driver's license. It is recommended that you make the appointment for the road test as soon as you get your permit. So when my son got his permit, I made an appointment six months in advance for 2/13 at 11AM. We show up at the DMV today and find that the office is closed for Presidents Day. So they booked a day's worth of appointments and people were showing up every 15 minutes for the road test only to find it closed. Nice job DMV!!

No doubt thread worthy. Potentially its own sub-forum but I don't run this place.

That’s unshockingly funny. I’m sorry you had to deal with it but it’s hilarious, although maddening I’m sure for you.

My son got his license today. The Tiger Woods accident served as a good lesson about speeding. We had a long talk about it and what it will cost him.

We both agreed that if he can't play again, the fact that he will not play the father/son with Charlie every year is the biggest loss. My son and I have played in the Golf Association of Philadelphia Father/son since he was 7. It's the day we look forward to the most each summer. He potentially threw that away for what? To drive faster and get somewhere quicker. Not at all worth it and a good lesson for a new driver. The fact that my son is a scratch help him relate to it.

Completely agreed. Just doing the math, the difference between 65mph and 75mph over a 15 mile drive like a minute and change. Not worth it.
