First day complete. It's so weird how exhausting a full day's work is after being housebound for 8 months. I work with a bunch of vulgar "industry" people... which is awesome. I have a diet coke fountain at my disposal, which is awesome. I also have my own line cook. His name is Roberto. Or Juan. I can't remember. He makes hummus, which is also awesome.

I think I've also found the last place on earth where people still smoke in their offices.

It reminds me of when I interned for the radio stations. Lots of debauchery, but a lot of ass kicking work, too.

Oh, and Lee, between walking my dog in the morning and walking to and from work, I knock out 8500 steps

In that situation, I would tell Ryan that I needed him to contact her and tell her that her level of involvement in his life is not needed and uncomfortable. I wouldn't get involved but I would expect him to stick up for me if I felt uncomfortable with a situation involving his friend.

I thought of this as well. I hate the idea of her pestering him (which has been so much as of late) being justified with a response from him, but it may be a better idea. I know he would be uncomfortable doing that (he hates confrontations like these), but, hell, it would mean I wouldn't have to.

My client lead just came to me and told me the best news...

Background: The compensation merit and bonus process has traditionally been a train wreck here every year. Last year some high level people were fired over the process. Well when I came on board to redesign everything, my clients said if I could pull it off such that it runs smoothly, they would give me some kind of reward. Joking around, I said I've always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride. (It's on my life list). So this was a running joke, that if I could pull it off I would get a balloon ride. I always took it in a joking manner.

Well my client just came to me (this guy is the BOSS of our entire project) and said I have earned my balloon ride. He said to pick a weekend for me and a guest and he will set it up.

I like this idea. I'd be tempted to get involved because I'd be pissed off but I don't think it's the best idea. Jeff needs to say something to her. He's been trying to say something by not saying anything, but clearly that's not working.
