When I'm hitting it well, it's usually in the 230-240 range, which sadly isn't much shorter than my old ass TM R7 I hack around with... if I even hit it well.

After getting skunked out of a time this weekend, logged on right as slots opened up for next Sunday. Can't wait.
Drivers are expensive, but if you found someone to fit you into a Driver that wasn’t retail length and weighted correctly you would see a major jump in distance and accuracy with Driver. Pretty sure mine is 2 inches short of the retail model.

Not sure if the OEMs do public fittings or not, but since they’re in your backyard I’d start there.

I'd love to get fitted, just haven't really put in the effort in researching thinking the all-in costs are going to be more than I am willing to spend. I know it'll be a worthwhile investment for years to come, but as someone who's only really ever had used clubs, I'm frugal lol.

I'm playing with a set of Mizuno muscle cuts I found on Facebook marketplace for $120. They're awesome and they were in great shape when I got them a few years ago. Before that I would play with my brother's clubs, which were like an all-in-one Cobra set he got at Walmart, I think

I'm telling myself to hold out on new clubs until my student loans are paid off in about five years. I'm already paying ~$2k per month on those, what's another $2500-3000 for a full new set with a fitting?

Law school was expensive! I’m down into the five figures now, after five years of payments already

Defer those because of COVID and get to your local Club Champion.

My loan holder, Earnest, is only offering deferments for “significant hardships” during COVID. So I wouldn’t qualify even if I wanted to pursue that right now

Finally pulled the trigger on ordering a net and hitting mat for home. Got both from Target for $88.

It will be here on 5/13 so once I have it up for a few weeks I'll report back. I read reviews that said the net is pretty durable, but who knows.

In the meantime I'm trying to decide if I should buy a bucket of foam practice balls, or some cheap hardcover range balls to hit into the net.

I’d just get in your bag and pull out a 6 balls. I was hitting foam balls and when you hit a real ball again it feels like you’re hitting a medicine ball.

Golf stuff from Target isn’t built for 160 MPH ball speed.

It’s really not that fast. That’s just 108 swing speed.

    I’m up over 165 now.

I dunno what mine is, but there's plenty for me to improve on in terms of my fundamentals. Will get a few lessons one day... once we can use practice facilities again.

If you’re hitting a hybrid as far as you say, you’re easily over 105 with a driver.

Should be, but Likely not for me, tho. I swing my irons and hybrid with a ton of confidence and can feel good letting it rip. My driver tends to be more of a conservative effort and approach because I easily over swing and produce some bad misses. It’s mechanical, which if I could fix, would grow my confidence to begin ripping it and pushing my yardage a bit.

Trying to rationalize some PXG irons while they’re 60% off. Guessing we see even better deals in a few months.

I know a few people that got PXG irons and they are no better now then before. If you need new sticks, just get callaway or TM. They are every bit as good.

PXG's remind me of Scotty Cameron putters. They are nice looking and carry a certain status with them but I have known as many people who made fewer putts and went back to their old putters as have made more and loved it.

Looks like they dialed back their shaft options, but they’re priced very competitively right now. Can easily build a nice combo set too.

Outdoor fitting with a real ball, but they’re booked through the next 30 days.

Just finished 18. Under 50 degrees, windy and misting rain. 83. Made an awful triple on a par 5 and finished with a 3 putt from about 20 feet. Frustrating but game is coming back around. Eventually I will have a round with no big numbers. Handicap has come down 2 strokes already this season.

I think they both get a bad reputation, but it is a reputation they definitely want and cultivate.

When you see the irons with the screws or the putter with the “cherry bombs”, every golfer has a reaction to it. No one has ever said anything about my Toulon.

PXG seems to be getting away from that with their new Driver and the 211 irons. Cameron seems to be getting more obnoxious.

Still pretty damn good for the conditions. Nicely done.

I still like the Cameron mallets even though the do seem to be getting pretty outrageous. They still have the best feel IMO. I never minded the screws in the back of the PXG irons, but they are pretty polarizing. Either you like the look or hate it. I think they're trying to appeal to a bigger market with the 211s.
