No, there is only one mix of RR no matter which version you buy (CD, vinyl, download).

The vinyl is separately mastered by Chris Bellman, the digital download that comes with the vinyl is the original '97 Ted Jensen mastering. The original CD is pretty decent sounding, no clipping, not heinously crushed, it holds up pretty well. I think Carter sounds more prominent on the vinyl mastering, the high end seems to breathe a little more, but it's not night and day like Crash.

What I have noticed is I have to have to volume on my receiver turned up pretty high to get decent volume when listening to vinyl compared to other formats, mostly streaming my home music through my AppleTV. At any rate, I have dome a little research and was thinking of upgrading my set to the U-Turn Orbit and building it custom with the Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge and the U-Turn Pluto preamp....

as I am relatively new to the turntable game, I'll gladly listen to any thoughts or inputs as to how much of a difference this "upgrade" may make, if at all...before I spend $600 on it.
Are you looking to upgrade because of this volume difference? Because upgrading won't change that. Generally speaking, that volume difference is due to the difference in mastering for vinyl vs mastering for digital.

I think he means is more than that though, and given the reviews of the built in pre-amp on the LP120 I'd guess that's probably the issue. A new and separate pre-amp should help. Mastering volume differences aside, it should still be close in volume at a line level

Just received mine from Amazon! Woo-hoo!!

Sound quality is phenomenal. They did such a stellar job with the mastering and conversion for vinyl.

It took me a minute to figure out what was different about the album cover, and then I realized that the name of the band and the name of the album are not there! Weird, right? On the CD, it's right up at the top of the album art. I wonder why they decided to take that off the vinyl art version?

Found a first pressing Europe '72 at my record store yesterday. $24 - was pretty excited. Also, found GD first album and Bear's Choice vol. 1. Pretty successful record store visit.

This is why I'll probably wait a bit on Luther when it comes out on black. Let it price drop to crazy lows like this.

Anybody who purchased the RSD Grateful Dead boxset....is worth it? It's on my want list on and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on it after the holidays if I can get it for a reasonable price.

    Just my 2 cents; no.

All it is are studio albums in a white box. And it's an RSD "first", so it'll be available again down the road.

If you have all those studio albums, not worth it IMO just to get the box and a book.

RR95 black version is on Amazon for $40.47 right now. Think that's an all time low https://www.amazon.com/Live-At-Red-R...SIN=B0725CTB61

Honestly, I’m more excited about this year than any of the past years.

But you’re right, the past 2 years have been pretty awesome for vinyl fans.

I think 2016 may have been my favorite, just because of how exciting it was to see that first video of Crash being cut from the tapes and then how great it sounded.

But we're also coming off a year where we got RR95 and Luther - something I would have thought insanely impossible just a few years ago.

So for 2018 to top it will be tough, but if/when it does it's going to be a real treat for us all!

Debating on whether I should go to my moms again for RSD, or try it here at school. I couldn't believe how much Looney Tunes had in stock this past RSD.

LPs have been programmed to only work if its a weekend, and you are sitting on an actual rock.

Things I'm expecting this year based on what we've recently gotten:

    - BTCS (20th an.)
    - Listener Supported - RSD2018 (chronologically next live release)
    - Live In Chicago '98 - BFRSD2018 (next chronologically after LS)
    - "What Album?"

If we get something else on top of all this, I'm not so sure I could handle all that in one year!

Perhaps he could be supervising, but I don't think he'd have a hand in remastering or anything

I got RR95 on vinyl for Christmas from my brother and absolutely love it. Being a newer fan (2010), I'm embarrassed to say that I never really gave this release a proper listening. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite releases and the mix is incredible. Sounds fantastic on vinyl
