Nothing he does in that show screams "Lando" to me.

edit: Great show, though.
while it's true that could be said about his character, I think you have to have a certain amount of edge to be the driving creative force of that show. I have no doubt he can pull off a young Lando.

I don't think I'd describe that show as "edgy"

I'm just not sure all the hyperbole of his being "a perfect fit" is actually grounded in any reality beyond the fact that he's black and kinda looks like Lando. He's a good actor though, so I'm sure he'll do great.

I just assumed that's what the movie's finale would be, or at least a big mid movie sequence.

I hope not. Aren't some things better left to mystery? I mean let's be honest, it sounds a lot cooler than it probably is. Does anyone know the world record for a UPS guy delivering something? That's what the Kessel Run sounds like to me. That or simply a galaxy-spanning race. Either way it won't live up to the hype, so let it ride.

Yeah, I kinda look at that story the same as a guy telling me about the huge marlin he landed "It was THIIIIIIISSSSSS big!!!"

Well, not to go full nerd, but a parsec is a unit of distance; not time. It implies some dangerous jumps and drops from hyperspace. It's also quite likely a boast that is an extreme exaggeration that was an attempt to impress Luke in Episode IV (one that did not get pat Obi-Wan)

I'd love to see how they actually did the run, especially in the context of a heist plot

While I agree with you, nothing seems to be a mystery at this point, so why not? Isn't Han Solo's entire past better left untouched? But here we are talking about a Han Solo movie, sans Harrison Ford, focused on his early years. Did we need to see how the Rebels acquired the plans for the Death Star? Nope, but here we are, just two weeks from Rogue One's release. Personally I would have been happy with one final Star Wars trilogy, VII-IX, but instead we're getting a new movie every year for the foreseeable future. Is what it is, so may as well just enjoy the ride I guess. Adding all of these anthology movies is completely unnecessary, and eventually I think it will make the whole series become stale due to over saturation, but that seems to be the way things work in the movie business these days.

I'm assuming he used "parsec" as a relatively unknown "space term" but didn't remember that it was a unit of distance until the movie came out and people looked it up. then he had to retcon that what he meant was that han took a dangerous route and wasn't just implying that the falcon was very fast (which was literally what he was saying right before)

From what I understand, in the original script, the reaction from Luke at Han's boast was amazement, but Obi-Wan was supposed to be shown doing some sort of "eye-roll" but that didn't make the cut. So I think it was intended for Han to be bragging and trying to impress his potential passengers/customers while being full of shit.

The cutting of Obi-Wan's reaction is what led to all the spin about the time/distance talk and what it really meant

oh got it. that makes more sense

still though, the whole point of that scene was that han was bragging and making things up, and ultimately luke and obi wan didn't care, they just needed a ship no questions asked. not sure why we need to see the kessel run (if it exists) but "member kessel run?" I suppose

My question is, why don't we have a Thrawn movie? Or a series of Thrawn movies? Guy was one of the most badass villains ever, like an evil Captain Picard. I would watch the hell out of those.

I was thinking about how cool it'd be to have an Ahsoka movie but then I thought about Marvel and how they started with the big names and they're slowly releasing the more obscure names.

I imagine that's what Star Wars is doing. I have ZERO doubt we'll see Thrawn and Ahsoka on the big screen at some point.

He's not canon anymore. Introducing him would legitimize Zahns work which would create giant plot holes for what they are doing with episodes 7, 8, 9. But yes, Thrawn was a badass.

Thrawn is canon again. He's being introduced on Star Wars Rebels. I know a lot of people don't really consider the cartoons but they are considered canon.

The way I understand it, the "Legends" status just says the events in this story may have happened but we're not going to validate them until we say otherwise.

Lucas' defense in the Ep. IV commentary is laughably amusing: "Well, of course it's a measure of distance. It's about the navigation skills of the Falcon. It says the instruments are better and that it can travel that distance in a shorter amount of time." I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of his argument.

Like. OK, George. Isn't it just easier to admit you fucked up?

I know it's a franchise and they're going to continue to grab cash, but this is a movie that just doesn't need made. It kind of betrays Han's appearance in IV.
