Seems a bit similar to the Charlottesville benefit. Tony Bennett could be cool though. And I bet Tim shows up!!

This is an annual concert that Stevie throws. This is the first time I have seen Dave included. I would go but I am already going to a concert that night.

I will be there. Its my wife's birthday - so I'm surprising her with a little overnight trip. Neither of us have ever seen Stevie - and since he doesn't much really tour - figured this was a good time to rectify that.

No - there were alot of guests. And Stevie played two of his albums in full. It was a great evening.

Tony Bennett did a couple of songs.
Some guy from Australia sang Silent Night
Some lady sang O Holy Night
    Andra Day performed a song
Savion Glover did some tap dancing (don't laugh - he's damned good)
    Dave did Crush
    Pharrell did Happy
and Stevie did Talking Book and Innervisions - with Dave guesting on Superstition, Andra Day guesting on a song, and Pharrell was out there for a couple.

All in all - a little over 3 and a half hours. Really fun and entertaining evening.

I went to the show and thought that Dave sang really well. I was a bit worried how he might sound after the Bay Area fire benefit show, but his voice sounded fantastic. Very smooth, perfectly on pitch, and he wasn’t straining or yelling to cut through over things like he has been with the band with their more recent sound.

The sound at the show was shockingly bad for Stevie’s set though. Lots of mic feedback, bass overpowering at times, vocals loud sometimes then too quiet at others, and the sound man of course forgot to turn Dave’s (and other singers’ throughout the night) mic on until after he had already started singing in Superstition. I still had a good time, but we are spoiled by how incredibly good DMBs sound crew is. In the 25 times I’ve seen them, the sound has always been incredible and I can only think of 1-2 times there have been sound issues, and they were fixed quickly.

Seconded - Dave sounded great. And appeared to be having a great time.

I meant to mention this, also. Whoever the sound tech is should never be allowed to do that again. It was pretty bad. Tony Bennett's mike didn't work - and he was the first performer of the show. Dave's mike didn't work at the beginning of Superstition. Alot of Feedback and alot of modulation issues.

Also forgot to mention that Common was there also.
