Great point to bring up what it costs to see this band.
I get really annoyed whenever someone says "the band doesn't OWE you anything.". Ummmm, actually according to economics, they OWE me $100 worth of entertainment if i buy a ticket to see their performance.
If their tickets were $25 bucks for lawns, then whatever. I wouldn't care... it would be a nice evening outside and if I heard a few tunes I like, than good enough.
But their tickets are NOT CHEAP. There's plenty of bands I can see this summer for $25. With what DMB charges, I expect to receive that amount of entertainment value. It's just not worth the cost anymore to sit through the "Dave plays what he wants" songs and hearing the same songs in the same slots. It was REALLY stale in 2016....Alpine N2 2016 wasn't just a bad DMB show... it was a BAD CONCERT in general
I am very irritated/angry with the band and especially management in 2018. For a whole plethora if reasons (some more obvious than others). With that, i will admit the actual music sounds fresh.
The sets are still "meh". Yeah, there's LOTS of classics in those sets. But their all classics i've seen many times before. Coupled with the stuff their busting out being off thier worst album... yeah. Still not worth $100
The only reason the Stand Up songs arn't being hated on is because it's something different. Give it a month... when they're still in as heavy rotation as they are now, people will remember why we hated these songs in the first place back a decade ago.
