Re: John Mayer

Continues to impress me with his constantly evolving and growing musicianship, but I still have no use for his tunes...

Mayer played a chronological setlist in Bangkok. Pretty creative.

Loved seeing that. I really appreciate how he's trying to mix his sets up each night, in one form or another. I see him in July, and although I expect more 'similar' sets on the US tour, it's still cool to see him trying new setlist ideas.

Idk I think hes continually evolving it based on how he feels night to night and that will continue into the US portion. I love it.

Pretty cool. Maybe DMB should try doing a reverse chronological setlist.

That is a great set! I just wish he'd bust out some deep cuts from the first 2 albums. I started following him on the JM3 tour back in 2005 (which I'm good with), but I have never gotten to see songs like St Patricks Day, Only Heart, 3x5, Wheel, etc. Hope he mixes it up a bit in the States, but I like the direction he's headed.

Not sure if any of you are Khalid fans, but John is featured on a new song of his. Not sure if he laying down the guitar for the whole song, but he's got a nice solo in there.

    Re: John Mayer

I loved The Search for Everything in terms of individual tunes, but there were a couple things that kept it from being a perfect album for me:

    1. Emoji of a Wave as track 2 - it's an amazing song but Track 2 is just too soon to slow everything down that much.
    2. Rosie, Roll it On Home and YGLFIM was an ending run that lacked any weightiness, if that makes sense. They are all great songs but I like a song with some weight and heft toward the end.

I plugged in New Light as Track 2 and I plugged in "I Guess I just feel like" between Rosie and Roll it on Home and I feel like it flows super well in that setup. And since I'm an album guy, it has the additional benefit that New Life and I Guess I Just Feel like are not just homeless songs that I rarely listen to anymore.

I'm dying for John to do some love releases similar to Live Trax/DMBLive or like Phish does their SBD releases.

Where The Light Is is 11 years old this year - the show will be 12 years old in December.

Anyone know if there's a John Mayer forum similar to Ants where fans can sell tickets? Trying to find some decent seats to his DC show but trying to avoid paying aftermarket fees. Thanks.

Really interested to see how the shows break down this weekend. He's announced this will be two full sets and no opener and wants to make sure everyone gets what they came for, so I expect these shows to be career spanning. Very excited for next sunday.

He used to do that sort of. He called it the As/Is series. There were 5 live albums released in 2004. I have the first one on CD, which was the only one released on CD apparently.

I've been wondering why he doesn't do that for ages. He loves Dave, he loves Phish, he loves the Dead, he jams plenty in his own shows. It's an absolutely no brainer.

I had forgotten when the tour was starting but I saw the tweet and definitely got excited. I was actually listening to the Deac&Co SPAC show and Mayer was fired up for that gig. Hope there are some decent audience pulls this year.

Not sure if it was ever posted here but some fan took some choice taper cuts from the Search for Everything tour, had some sound guy touch them up and then sequenced them into setlists. He basically came up with 2 unique setlists in the TSFE tour format (band, acoustic, trio, band), and then a third album of bonus tracks that didn't fit into either of the two setlists. It's a pretty good listen, especially given the lack of officially released shows out there.

They're on Google Music as well. I remember when I first saw them on there I got excited because one is from the Houston and I thought it was the show I went to, but then I saw it was the 2004 tour and not 2003.
