I actually don't think there is a substantial increase in endorsement income; its more of a lifestyle thing - when the Lakers are playing well, the superstars are the royalty of the city, which is not an insignifgant thing, in a town with as much wealth as Los Angeles.

The Lakers need to do something and if they could they would call Orlando and offer something huge to them for Dwight. The Magic brass would then ask Dwight if there were any chance he stays in Orlando to which Dwight says "Hell No" and he gets shipped to LA.

He doesn't need that much more money. He's still young enough to sign 2 more long term max deals before he retires. That's a lot of money. He also already has lots of money from Orlando and his endorsements. If the Magic are allowed to offer him $130M in the new CBA but he can get $115M from LA I think he goes to LA in a heartbeat. $15M isn't that much to Dwight Howard. Hell Shaq left Orlando for LA for what only $1M more at the time????

Point is if Dwight wanted to be in Orlando he would of signed an extension already. Just like Lebron would of signed an extension a couple years ago in Cleveland if he wanted to stay there. These are facts that no one can dispute!

He can only sign a two year extension max. I don't think it's terribly out of line to prefer to sign a 5-6 year deal next summer.

There is a reason you are worried. The new CBA is probably going to reduce salaries, and also cut the length of contracts, so if he was leaning toward resigning, he'd take the 2 year extension (about 43 million or something). I don't think contract length is the biggest factor for him, its winning & money.
