No camp grounds around Shoreline. I don't think there's any RV parks either. There's some hotels and motels within a short driving distance.

Manresa Beach is about a 30-45 drive. Well worth it!

Plenty of parking at the venue, just follow the traffic. There's multiple lots Shoreline uses. The main lot is a dirt lot. All overflow parking goes into the office buildings that surround the venue, except Google, they keep their lots closed. I usually can get into the dirt lot by arriving about an hour before the opening act. If you get there after the opening act you might end up in an overflow lot. The one time I was stuck in the overflow lot, I was stuck at the venue for over an hour. You have to wait for all the traffic to clear out of the dirt lots first. The reason you have to wait is because nobody will let traffic out of the office lots, unless you want to push your way out and risk getting t-boned.

    God I hate leaving Shoreline.

Really wishing there was a hotel close enough to walk from. The one I'm staying at this year is 2.3 miles away, which is doable in theory, but that's a bit much late night after drinking all night.

Does your hotel have a shuttle service? If so, after the show see if they can pick you up at In-N-Out?

Glad to help. The only other suggestion I could give is parking down the street at the movie theater. It's been a few years since I've done that. Never had a problem with it, though things may have changed. It's a bit of a walk but the north bound entrance to 101 is right there.

Something else I just thought of to is the small shopping center on the west side of the 101. There's a Costco and other small shops in the center (off of Rengstorff). Since it's a Sunday night, most shops might close early. There's a Krispy Kreme, McDonalds and In-N-Out nearby. Not sure if the lot is monitored by security or not, so it could be a risk. If it's a risk you're willing to take, I'd suggest parking as close to one of the restaurants as you can, without invading their lots. The walk is a bit further than the movie theater, but you might be able to sober up some before getting into your car, and you don't have to sit in traffic.

Idk if they have a lot of season ticket holders or something, which would explain the uninterested attitude you're describing, or what.

The issue at Shoreline is massive amounts of season tix and venue VIP/corporate tix in the lower levels. Its been getting progressively worse for about 5 years now. I see a couple shows there a year and its the same at all of them, the 100 level is fairly disinterested in the actual music going on, lots of people show up late and leave early.
Dissapointing because its a really good venue with excellent sound if you are centered. The two nighters there were really great. Last year, with lots of empty seats up close and alot of the ones that were filled were trying to carry on conversations with their back to the stage, was sort of meh.

On the plus side, there are usually pretty decent instants that pop up on WH so getting a good seat isnt too difficult.

Really wish they would do a weekend at the Greek Theater again, that was incredible.

I don't know... will definitely inquire. I'd be surprised if it ran that late though.

Where do they post up, and how long are the lines? I've been to Shoreline a handful of times, but don't recall seeing the cab line.

(sort of bump, but...) i'm thinking about doing 2 CA to finish off my crazy month in the States. have some crazy plans in my head, and hell, it's going to open!

but anyway, about shoreline: i was thinking of doing Irvine & Mountain View, with fighting for pit or lower for Irvine and relaxing at the lawn for Shoreline. but, is the lawn really that bad? i'm coming from very far indeed, so can i relax just fine and meet good people at the lawn there? will it be a cool closer for my awesome trip?

I don't mind Shoreline lawn at all. If you can get towards the front in the center, or do WH lawn section, the sound is excellent. If I had a choice between the 200 section on the sides or WH lawn, I would pick lawn everytime. Good folks on the lawn too. In the 100 sections you get a lot of VIP, season tix, corporate seats people. And they aren't always that into the band. Can be a bit of a downer.

I don't know if it's something they still do, but in the past it was a roped off section at the front/center of the lawn for people with WH Preferred Lawn tickets.

You have to get there early though. From my understanding, once the show starts, the ropes come down.

The WH Lawn is a joke! As soon as the lights go out the ropes go down. Last year the lawn was packed, security didn't even try to stop people. We had lawn "seats" and we're able to walk all the way to the front about 40 feet in front if Dave with no problems. Shoreline security is by far the most lax of any amphitheater I've been to.

So that is what's going on. I've been getting terrible seats through WH at Shoreline the past several years, so I didn't even bother this year. Since Tahoe is nice and small, I'd much rather go there where I can be close. When they did 3 nights at the Greek in '08 was sooooooooooo nice. I really wish they would do that again.

Tailgating at Shoreline kind of sucks. Cops will make you pour out your beer so you have to be watching for them. Because of that, there's not much of a scene so I don't really even bother anymore.

Hi all, I am coming from florida to shoreline this year, already bought the plane tickets, never been to san fran so I figured it was a perfect opportunity to do both. But with reading the comments about the venue, now I'm kind of having second thoughts. Is the crowd really not into it? Last night in wpb the 3 rows in front and back of me were sitting down the entire time and I can't stand that. But at least the other sections were into it. I also thought there was pit, but I guess not? Any insight would be appreciated!

Just curious, where are you sitting in the venue? Every show I've been to at Shoreline, the crowd has at least been standing. It probably won't feel like a hugh party, but you should have a good time. Sound is excellent and the people are usually pretty nice. BTW, no pit at Shoreline.

I recommend Section 202. It's dead center and you're a little ways back, but can see the whole stage. If you can't get 202, try 201 or 203, but try to get as close to the aisle that shares section 202. That way you'll still be almost dead center. The bottom sections are numbered the same 100, 101, 102 (dead center) 103 and 104. The 100's section are under the "tents" I doubt you'll have to worry about rain though.

Last night in wpb the 3 rows in front and back of me were sitting down the entire time and I can't stand that. But at least the other sections were into it. I also thought there was pit, but I guess not? Any insight would be appreciated!
Just to clarify Shoreline is not in Frisco, its in Mountain View about a 45 minute drive south. As far as the crowd, I've caught almost every DMB show at Shoreline since 2000 and for me it's been hit our miss. I would definitely go if I were you. It's a beautiful venue with a lot of history and the band usually puts on a great show.
