So this was bothering me all day while I was at work and didn't have a chance to listen. I for sure hear the bassline walking down from Eb to Bb, I hope someone will back me up on this. Even if my ears have deceived me, the note d is part of as G minor chord (G Bb D), in which case we can agree that there is a D note being played somewhere in the 2nd bar.
So..
For the 2nd chord in the chorus we have
Eb/d vs. Gm/d
Eb/d = D Bb Eb G
Gm/d = D G Bb
You will notice that both chords share THREE notes in common - G, Bb, and D. Those three chords make up a G minor triad, in which case you would be right in labeling this a G minor chord.
The only difference is that Eb note. If that note is being sustained throughout those first couple bars in the chorus, then that second chord is indeed a Eb/d, or a Ebmaj7/d. While the lowest Eb in the bass does in fact drop to a d, I hear that higher octave Eb sustaining throughout. However, I have been at work and, while I have thought about this a great deal (should have been focused on my work, but I digress), I have not had a chance to listen. This I will now do.
