I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

Hey guys, question for ya, relating to the speculation surrounding any holdup for a live D&F release: Everyone is always saying how much it would cost to get the rights to all the cover songs they play, but how can bands like Umphrey's, who play dozens more covers and release nearly all their shows, afford to release all those covers? Is it really not that pricey? Is UM just willing to pay the cost for the fans? Or is D&F management just really super cheap when it comes to paying out for song rights? This has always confused me...would someone mind clearing it up for me, please? Thanks!

This is more related to the bad blood within the band during this period.

Love this idea! I didn't make it to a Caravan but they seemed like such a cool concept.

If it did it wouldn’t be a Live Trax. If we get ANY caravan again it’d be a Gorge box set.

5/9/01 is a good one. I’ve listen to that tape about 100 times.

5/9/01 has a great tape, Carter sounds so good on it. That Two Step is an all timer.

It’s just the original 5 brining it all night. One of the last with no guest and just the 5 members.

I'm really hoping we get a spring 2002 show... With the recent XM 2004 show and LT 50 recently... I don't think we'll get that year for awhile now..

I was listening to tapes from 02 this weekend and really really want something from that energetic spring tour... The band just seemed like they were having a blast... And there are dozens of good shows from April/May to choose from...
This mid set run at the Pepsi Center in Denver is jaw dropping..

I'm thinking there's potential that the consistent Sirius debuts give us a chance to make Live Trax releases more interesting. There's really no difference in the quality of shows selected. Perhaps this is an opportunity for the LT series to dip deeper into shows/weekends:
- More multinight stands
- Soundchecks
- Fill discs with highlights from other nights

Stuff we've seen before, but just with more regularity to make it stand out. Also worth noting that if I was starting a a LivePhish+ type app for DMB, it certainly wouldnt hurt to bring up the available soundboard total. Which could be a part of the Sirius inspiration.

12/07/98 is in my top 5 of shows I want the band to release.

I've been hoping for that show to be released since before Live Trax even existed. I can still remember my disappointment when Live Trax 1 was announced and realized they were releasing night 2, not night 1.

1) Sept 2, 2018 (Gorge)
2) Nov 7, 1998 (Worcester)
3) Oct 2, 2007 (Hollywood Bowl)
4) One of the show the band did with Herbie Hancock in 1998
5) Either April 19, 20 or 21, 2002 (Flecktones Canadian run)
6) A show from 2001 without the Lovely Ladies (About a page earlier in this thread someone suggested May 9, 2001 when I said this and I agree)

I was at that Gorge 2018 show and enjoy it quite a bit. The Sirius rip of it isn't perfect, but it's pretty solid quality if you're looking for a soundboard

Why not give either the 2018 or 2019 Gorge run the box set treatment that the 2002 run got.

It has nothing to do with whether they are good shows, they had the opportunity to release 2 night stands together for years and haven’t done it...why would they choose to release something like alpine 04 as LT 8 and LT 57? I just do t see it happening.
