Ultimate Fighting/MMA

Apologies if there is another thread...searched and got nothing

I myself am a huge Mixed Martial Arts fan, especially Ultimate Fighting. I hope somebody else out there is too. First, do you watch the "Ultimate Fighter" the show on spike and second, are you as pumped for Liddell-Couture part II as me and who do you think will win? Decision, KO, or TO?

I was reading this article about an Ultimate Fighting type thing... an ex Redskin football player was going to fight in it... can't remember the name just now.. but it was something stupid like king of the ring... but i know they said they fight in the same style octagon as UFC...

It was Michael Westbrook. Don't know if he won or not. I think it was called "King of the Cage". The minor leagues if you will. I saw it on Cold Pizza.

I love the UFC, but I didn't know it came on spike. When I was deployed last yr I got to follow it when Ortiz was undefeated and then lost to Coutor (I think thats his name) well I just got to catch it a little while ago and say Ortiz lose to Liddell!!! I couldn't believe it!! I feel I've missed so much, what times does it come on Spike?

Monday nights at 10 CST. Its a show kind of like "the apprentice" or american idol but UFC style. The show rules. Every show ends with two guys going into the octagon, loser goes home. I was totally pulling for Nate Quarry but he got hurt. I think I am going for Mike Swick now. But yeah, Liddell knocked Ortiz out early in the second round with a flurry of jabs and hooks. Couture-Liddell fight April 16th for the Light heavyweight title. Probably the most anticipated rematch of all time. I like Couture to win just because he is the most technically sound fighter there is but Liddell just needs a small opening to KO Couture. Great fight.

I used to be a big fan, but like wrestling, it just lost my interest. I like the old school guys...or as old school as you can get, really...Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Tank Abbott... www.sherdog.com has (or used to have) 3-5 minute highlight clips of about 20 different fighters, they're all great to watch.

I love it. The ability of these guys is just amazing. And nothing is as cool as a good KO

After watching wrestling for so long, I was thinking "Armbar? That's nothing." Then I actually got put in to one, and changed my tune.

Every time I watch it the fights are boring and end up in submission holds or guys trying to get other guys in submission holds. I'll have to check it out again as I have enjoyed it in the past. I'm not sure if it's banned in my area but I do know past events have been cancelled at the last minute and shipped elsewhere. People suck.

Well, once again, I think I am the only fan around here, but after losing to Chuck Liddell again, one of the all time greats, Randy Couture, has decided to call it quits.

A sad day for MMA and the UFC. He was one of the best in the business. I still have Matt Hughes and Andrei Arlovski to root for.

Chuck is gonna pull through with a KO in the 3rd Round...

But im more pumped for the Royce Gracie vs. Matt Hughes.

Matt Hughes is my favorite of all time and even against an intimidating opponent like Gracie, I gotta root for Hughes.

Gracie vs Hughes is gonna be awesome.

And Couture has gone the way of k.shamrock...washed up.

Matt Hughes is going to put Royce to sleep. It is a publicity stunt and Royce has no shot. Matt Hughes is the most complete fighter in the world.

And Couture didn't go out like Shamrock. Couture lost his last 2 out of 3, the two coming against maybe the greatest champion of all time....If Couture would have hung around and lost to another person, then I would agree.

I'm a huge fan. We had the pay per view at our house. We generally throw a party anytime there is something on pay per view. I watch the UFC reality show as well.

Up until 3-4 months ago I was taking MMA classes(screwed up my neck/back). I'm hoping to get healthy here in the next month and get back at it. I'm not sure if I will ever fight in the octagon, but it is a great work out and it is fun. The guy that teaches our class in Des Moines has been on 2 UFC events. Josh "The Dentist" Neer was on the most recent Fight Night and he also fought Drew Fickett in UFC 40-something.

I am absolutley fired up about the Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie fight. It will be interesting to see if Wesley Snipes and Joe Rogan get in the octagon as well.

Tito Ortiz and Kenny Shamrock absolutely HATE each other. Shamrock is planning a comeback against Tito. This season promises to be awesome.
