Well let's just keep up the campaign (respectfully) to bring back the violin and see what happens!! Why not have her or another violinist as a touring member of the band, even if it was just for Ants, Nancies, Warehouse, Billies, Stone, STJL, 41, and LIOG? They make a fortune every tour... seems like they could afford to pay a violinist for part time work.

I really don’t miss the violin sound at all.

It's funny you say that but I do agree. Having the fiddle on ants was cool, but I'm generally ok with it not being there. The band has evolved past the point of needing a fiddle player to fill that role.

That was the best Ants since the early 2000's. Please reignite my love of seeing them live that's been waning since I hit so many shows in the last two years. I'd really love to see a DMB show with a fiddle again. Maybe MSG?

Don’t be mad man. Nothing lasts forever. He gave us a quarter of a century.

You must be new here that has been a thought process in every thread talking about bringing the violin back. We have quoted him mentioning taking the band in a different direction around the Come Tomorrow release interview quotes he has given to media.

That hit me harder than I thought it would.

The question isn't why, so much as WHY NOT?! She's a world class musician and would be a huge asset to the band.

possibly because she has young twins at home and may not want to tour the country for half the year

I was referencing whether Dave would be interested, but had no idea about her having young kids at home.

Also, didn't realize she's married to the guitarist from Incubus. Pretty cool.

    from wikipedia:

"We had no plans of adding a violinist. We just wanted some fiddle tracked on this one song "Tripping Billies", and Boyd was a friend of Leroi. He came in and it just clicked. That completely solidified the band, gave it a lot more power."

    that was in 1992.

the band was founded in 1991.

    Boyd was fired in 2018.

the time to have kicked him out would have been for EVERYDAY, if Dave truly "didn't like the violin." but then who would have sung the rap verse?

instead, he was part of the band for 26 years until his own self-destruction and health issues turned him from an asset to a liability.

    Re: Sign her up

Everything about that Ants solo was perfect. Down to the length of it, and only doing the single hits. When Carter starts bashing away at every cymbal he can it completely loses the dynamic of the song.

Like others, I think they’ve moved on from the violin, but enjoyed a fun moment together as a band. I’d be all for her joining up in some permanent way though. Especially with how tight this line up has gotten. If they brought her on full time they’d see some real fan excitement for sure. Not only because of the violin return, but it would be a cool move to bring on a kick ass female lead to such a well known band.

Not sure what they have in store for tonight but if they don’t play Stone with that orchestra, or at least a stripped version of it, it will be a huge swing and a miss. Hate to see them waste the opportunity for such an amazing moment on You and Me, That Girl is You and You Might Die Trying haha

This. It's wild people hear that she has young children and her husband already travels in a kind of well known rock band called Incubus and they are still like "screw it sign her up for 40+ shows a year!".

I understand the want to have a violin player period but it's pretty obvious why even as a friend of the band she didn't hop in in 2018 and still hasn't hopped in fulltime now even if dave was looking to add a fiddle player.

Not sure DMB has the budget to add another top tier musician.
A world class fiddle player has a lot of leverage in this scenario.

That was perfection. I'm fine with Buddy but if given the choice between the two, give me her on the violin every day. DMB needs a competent violin player badly. She sounded so good.

Incubus was my favorite band before I allowed myself to fall in love with DMB. I would attend many many shows if that were the case.
