The latest rumor is that those have been found.

While the band/management make a lot of baffling decisions, losing/misplacing the master tapes isnt on them. The label would be responsible for storing those and there are massive storage facilities with thousands and thousands of master tapes stored (which is why that Universal warehouse fire was so devastating) and its surprising more things aren't misplaced in that environment. Put 100K tapes in a Costco and then try to devise a system that tracks where each one is located with 100% reliability, you are going to fail from time to time.

If the vinyl reissue sounds better than the original vinyl (which was the CD file pressed to vinyl?), I'd be happy with that too.

Was that the issue with a lot of '98 shows also not readily available too? Band members would take them without returning them?

Not really BTCS reissue related, but I'd really like to see Alanis sing Spoon with the band again

They’ll probably miss the mark per usual and just re-release the vinyl and say, “be happy you got anything.” No extras

Just give me a copy of the vinyl, nothing else. I'd be happy. I don't want to spend 500 or more on an original pressing.

    Green Day Dookie 25th anniversary

    https://store.greenday.com/en/green-...624873006.html

    Quote:
This 25th Anniversary Edition includes the original album, one disc of previously unreleased Nimrod demos, and a live set from Philadelphia recorded one month after Nimrod was released. The 14 track demos disc includes two unreleased Green Day tracks (“You Irritate Me” and “Tre Polka”), plus a cover of the classic Elvis Costello song “Allison” (previously unreleased). The live album was recorded at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia on November 14, 1997. The 20-songset includes several songs from Nimrod, plus fan favorites from their previous albums and singles.
Very cool. I'd like to see something similar. Like Tabernacle '98 to accompany it. GD also has Dookie merch they're putting out

I wish these box sets wouldn't always include piles of garbage. Just put out the music.

The Pink Floyd Immersion box sets were the worst offenders for including garbage. They had marbles, coasters, and a scarf!

I didn't know this was something I wanted until just now when Tool released it but, I hope DMB will follow suit and release a BTCS 'where's the vinyl re-issue' t-shirt?

What's an "immersion" set? I would hope that means you get to go under water or get immersed in a soundscape.

The "uber" deluxe edition of Achtung Baby was also full of fluff and 3x the price of the Immersion sets - including super cheap knock offs of The Fly glasses. Who are the dummies putting these things together? Meanwhile XTC and Steven Wilson have been raising the bar on both value added content and price for deluxe sets - I think Drums and Wires CD+Blu-ray had over 100 tracks in high res and lots of 5.1 on the BD.

It was the term Pink Floyd coined when they started their "Super Deluxe Editions" (SDE) of their albums beginning with DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall. While "Immersion" would make you think of a great surround mix, unfortunately The Wall had nothing - a stark contrast to the other two albums which included not only new 5.1 mixes by James Guthrie, but the first proper digital masterings of the original Parsons' 4.0 mixes presented as 24/96 PCM. For DSOTM, it's hard to best that quad mix!

They would need the original tape for a remaster, or at least some version of the pre-mastered version of the album and since BTCS is an analogue master, it would at least need a safety copy to be available.

If there are no existing copies of the original stereo master, THEN a remix is more likely/possible, as that would be the only way to do a new super deluxe edition without just using the CD as the source for everything.

Another example: Temple of the Dog's only album had an analogue stereo master, it was either destroyed in the fire or misplaced during some squabbles between management and the Parashar brothers - they (O'Brien) ended up doing a new stereo mix of the album because the analogue multitracks were not lost (which may be the case for BTCS also), and did a new 5.1 mix at the same time. I'm sure a new stereo mix might rub some people the wrong way, but sounds like a lot of people were keen on Blu-ray expanded deluxe editions of the albums back in 2009 when I did this poll - https://antsmarching.org/forum/showthread.php?t=270359

    Disc 1: Lillywhite remastered album
Disc 2: Alternate takes + Machead and Help Myself
Disc 3: Live versions of the album from 1998

Vinyl, CD, digital download, etc options.

    Do it.

Maybe they'd do what they did for Crash or Everyday's 20th anniversaries.
Crash 20: July 2016 Vinyl LP reissue + Live Trax from June 1996.
Everyday 20: Live Trax 56 was from the summer of 2001 and nothing else.
They didn't do an anniversary package for either of those nor did they for UTTAD -- for UTTAD's 25th anniversary there was just a Live Trax from that era and nothing else.

This band is now notorious for holding back as much content as they can and then just...never releasing it. Hoping they buck that trend this year with a new album AND BTCS25 (which hopefully includes many high quality format options and extra content).

Given the track record I'm just not going to get my hopes up too high for anything this year.

I honestly can't believe it's now BTCS 25 that we are hoping for. Doesn't seem possible that it's been 5 years since the hype for the 20th.

Also, obligatory "this band sucks at releasing anything purely for the fans ."

    UTTAD 20th was pretty lackluster.
Crash 20th was terrible. Literally just a vinyl release which is only good if you like vinyl.

One day they will look back and realise they missed the boat for releasing these bonus tracks and unreleased material.

Can't be many of fans left who'll actually pay good money for it now. Just those of us on ants and some folks who miss their college days.

Fully untrue, the thing about anniversary releases is that you can do them whenever (in this case 2028, 2038...)
For instance, I can't keep track with how many anniversary releases Dark Side of the Moon has had. They're doing one again this year, a year after they put out what was supposed to be the definitive digital masterings (24/192 and 24/96) of their catalogue

Yeah, but DMB isn't Pink Floyd - their popularity and fanbase is not comparable. They risk missing the boat on the vinyl bubble if/when it pops, and they're losing interest from some of their most hardcore and longest tenured fans, which means their market for a big anniversary release (which could net some big $$$) is shrinking.

DMB holding on to a BTCS anniversary for another 5-10 years would absolutely be a huge missed opportunity from a business standpoint. Luckily, I do not think that is the plan.
