I think I've become more liberal over the past decade, but I think that has more to do with current events and the status of our economy. I'm a social liberal and fiscal conservative at heart.
From a political standpoint, Mitch's platform of pure, unadulterated obstructionism pushed me left. The Garland SCOTUS nomination was kind of the last straw for me.
From an economic standpoint, the playing field isn't getting any more level...in fact it's going in the opposite direction. Until we make progress on zip code school quality and the ever-growing income/asset gap, it would be hard for me to move back to the right.
And then of course we have the R party's embrace of Trump and right wing white nationalism coupled with their wars on democracy, facts, and science (COVID+climate change).
I should be the EXACT person making the transition from liberal to conservative, historically speaking. But I'm going the other direction and republicans have no one to blame but themselves.
