Re: Rate the Album

I guess it's about a 5-6. I'll give it a 6 to be nice since I'm in a good mood this morning. They have some good musical ideas going on, but I can only handle so many horribly cheesy lyrics about his kids or making his wife cum.

    Re: Rate the Album

I'd rather rate it like this:

    (possible 5 stars)

    4 - Samurai Cop
    2 - Can't Stop
    4 - Here On Out
3 - That Girl Is You
    4 - She
    4 - Idea Of You
4 - Virginia In The Rain
    4 - Again and Again
    2 - bkdkdkdd
3 - Black And Blue Bird
2 - Come On Come On
    5 - Do You Remember
    3 - Come Tomorrow
    4 - When I'm Weary.

Mostly really good songs. If there is one 5 star song it is Do You Remember. It still stands out among the rest.

For me I wish there was at least 1 more 5 star song. But still nice album overall.

Unpopular opinion that I, myself, can't believe: I like Come Tomorrow (track) a lot on the album. The cheese lyrics are there, but there are some verses I actually like. The music is beautiful. Just kind of sways back and forth. Still bottom half of the album for me behind SC, Here On Out, She, Virginia, Idea Of You, Again And Again, and DYR but I expected worse. It's a pleasant song.

Just gave the album my first listen all the way through. I like it; with an emphasis on like. There are some great tracks. Samurai Cop, Can't Stop, She, Again and Again, Idea of You, & bkdkdkdd are all awesome. The rest of the tunes are just meh. Ironically Can't Stop (really?) and bkdkdkdd might be the best music on the album. I gave it a 7. Its more like a 6.5. Away From the World is far superior as a full listen, but this album has higher highs, and lower lows. Anyway, I'd rank the albums this way now:

    Crash - 10
    UTTAD - 10
    BTCS - 10
    Busted Stuff - 9.5
    Some Devil - 8.5
    Big Whiskey - 8
    AFTW - 7.5
    Everyday - 6.5
    Come Tomorrow - 6.5
    Stand Up - 3

Busted Stuff a 9.5???? Second only to Stand Up IMO for worst produced albums.

Yeah, I hear you. Busted Stuff would be by far their best album if the production was done by Lillywhite. Every song on Busted Stuff is dynamite, except WAYG.

I've truly loved everything that this band has come out with. Some songs throughout their existence have taken some getting used to but I end up loving them all. I've listened to this album 4 times now and I can honestly say that I love this album.

An apt description of Stand Up, but not this. These songs are pretty polished and well executed.

These songs are decently executed but I wouldn't go so far as to call them polished and well executed.

No doubt about that. The LWS as is are way better. But that’s what DMB gets for rushing it out to market.

Would love to see the poll results of this now and then do a new poll one year from now. Heck, would like to see the results of that for every album they've had.

Ive said this a few times, but I find it fascinating that over 60 percent of this website gives this a 7+, and over 75 percent of this website gives it a 6+, yet you read these boards and it's mostly people shitting on every detail of the album. It's nice to see the majority of the fanbase is satisfied. I know I am.

It's really the hardcore 90s fans that hate it. My parents are huge fans but aren't looking for another BTCS, and they love the album so much. This album seems like it'll be a huge mainstream success that still caters well to harder fans and casuals alike. I think it's a really well crafted album that sounds nothing like any one thing they've done before (but rather a mixture of several things they've done instead).

    I am not a hardcore 90s fan. I didn't get into DMB until 2007.

I dont think I've ever said it's out of this world. A few of the songs bore me, but I enjoy the crisp sound of it. I think I wrote 7.5/10 which is completely fair.

5 (even though I hit 6 by mistake)

The best song is a decade old, and there are four or five songs on here (Can’t Stop, She, TGIY, Samauri Corp) I’d never want to see at a show I attend.

Decent Dave solo album. Disappointing full band album.

I recently went back and revisited DMB for the first time in a long, long time, and I was really surprised how little I enjoyed Big Whiskey. Surprised to see it so highly ranked on so many people’s lists.

Everyday and Stand Up are irredeemable turds, and while I like some things about BW, it’s closer to those two for me than anything above it.

Compared to BTCS, Crash or UTTAD is probably a 4 BUT if you don't compare and just judge the album as it is i think it is a 7.
I think there are really good songs in this album, can they replace LIOG, Two Step, the stone etc? No and they shouldn't but it is a good album in a different mood.
About Stand up I honestly love some of the musics in live shows, they were not very good in the album but they are great live performances. (YMDT, ABI, HA) and some other are nice songs.

Switching from 7 to 8. This album is so fun to listen to. I genuinely enjoy or love every track.

I’ve listened to it start to finish three times. No desire to do it anymore. It’s not good, guys. You’re all just excited about the new car smell. End of the day it’s still a Kia.
