Every state has somewhere to live that gets on some list. It's really fucking cold for some people. When you ask someone who moves why they did it's almost always because of the weather. Some people really like only big cities- like New York or San Francisco. I get it. I would never freeze my ass off in some small college town in WI just because it was on some list.

IL is not that different from WI. Outside of the Chicagoland area there are only like one or two large cities that aren't also college cities.

Some people need big cities as a sort of critical mass of restaurants, movie theaters, art galleries and entertainment. Some people just can't live in small towns. I have relatives that only like big cities and warm climates. So while people in small towns may love to hunt, fish, bike or hike others may not like any of that.

Home to one of the largest healthcare tech companies in country. We actually have a pretty thriving tech/science sector. More millennials are moving to Madison than anywhere else. Take that for what you will.
