I don’t think Adnan did it. I do not believe the prosecutions motive and most of all think Hae was a smart girl and if he was capible or doing this she would have sense it and clearly she didn’t as they were still close friends.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes, but this material is right in my wheelhouse. I love podcasts dealing with the law/courts.


That said, I am somewhat disappointed that it's not dealing with just one case again like S1. I guess there's just no way they're going to recapture the magic of the first season, especially now that there are dozens of copy cat podcasts doing the same thing, so maybe it's best they don't try for some time. Eventually though, I'd like them to do another season on one case, where it's a bit of a whodunnit.

A few years late to the game for Season 1, here are a few thoughts / questions:
• The video of Hae, that’s from the day she disappeared (and presumably killed)?
• Because of the car thing, I thought it had to be one of them, but with the subsequent information Jay was coached, that changes a lot
• Regardless of one think’s of anyone’s guilt, can’t believe there was enough evidence to convict him
• If Adnan had waited a few days to get that cell phone, this would be an unsolved crime.
• I do think he is guilty, based on one thing. And it makes me think back to the time I was a juror on a murder case about 20 years ago. Surprising to a lot of people who have seen me share some thoughts on our criminal justice system, I voted to convict – and I was one of the most sure jurors. I knew one of the law enforcement officers was lying on the stand, but the thing that convinced me to convict was the type of weapon used, which was really rare in this type of killing (gang drive by). That one thing was the reason I still remembered I was convinced. And here’s the one thing that convinces me that Adnan is guilty – once Hae disappeared, he never tried to contact her. I don’t care if Don never tried to contact her either – he was dating her less than 2 weeks, and probably wasn’t as mature as Adnan. Adnan, who seemed very mature and thoughtful, would have tried to contact her.

I liked Season 3. I'm a regular middle class white male, so I have no idea that most of that stuff happens, and it really sucks for most of the people. One small thing just keep snowballing and they can never recover.

Season 3 is great. I worked as a public defender for 3 years and in my opinion S3 gives a very honest and blunt window into how crazy the system is, and how rigged it is against you once you get arrested.

Last few weeks listened to both Season 2 and Season 3.

I lived in a suburb of Cleveland (less than a 100 yards from the border of Cleveland) the first 13 years of my life, and still have some ties there, and my guess is that this isn't going to help the city's reputation, even though I am sure the system issues are in many, many places. Funny listening to the poor condition of East Cleveland, my late grandma lived there til she was like 16, when it was presumably a nice place (80 years ago).

I'm really excited for the HBO doc on Adnan. It appears the attorney (and personal friend of Adnan) that did Undisclosed is a big part of it.
I've been listening to S1 of Undisclosed, but it's very dense with information and not nearly as polished as Serial. It's good, but I can't plow through it back to back like I can with other podcasts.

Undisclosed is definitely super dense. It helped to have already heard a polished narrative of the story via Serial though; you already generally know what they're talking about when they go off into the weeds.

That podcast put me firmly in the camp of his being innocent. I was leaning more toward his being guilty after Serial.

Season 3 got pretty boring. I'm not sure they can capture lightning in the bottle again like they did with season 1

Yea, the host Rabia is arguably his biggest advocate and has been fighting tirelessly to get him out. Doesn't mean the information they provided is wrong or fake. I feel like they adequately presented the arguments for the other side; they kinda had to given the format/topic.


I liked Season 3 but I listen to other podcasts that are similar; it's a subject I'm interested in. Yea, it's going to be tough to replicate S1, but maybe it's time to do another unsolved case and give it a try.
