2022 Poster Discussion

How do they choose the artist for these venues, are they contracted out for certain shows? I know methane does a fairly decent amount compared to others, so I was just wondering. Thanks.

I just received my 18x24 poster portfolio. Did anyone that has one put two in one sleeve? It seems kind of thin to do that I was just curious

I put what I have in mine. 1 per sleeve. I don't have nearly enough posters to do 2 per

You can put a poster in the front and back of each folio page.

The Dave & Tim one is possibly one of my all time favorites. The design, the colors, etc. I love everything about it--and I usually always hate landscape designs.

Also really enjoy Bethel - The woodstock 60/70s theme is great.

Huh. THe design is interesting - I don't hate it. The colors pop for me though. I really enjoy it. I kind of compare this print to Chicago N2 last year only with better colors.

While poster art appreciation is a personal taste….is this one worth the $60.00??

Got ours last week and just finished getting posters in there. Bent the corner of this year's SPAC N1, but not a hard crease. Doesn't matter though, because we buy them for us.

The only one that wouldn't fit was the 2018 Mansfield, which is only not in a frame because of it's unique size, 25" x 12.5"

So not it's a bit of time in the folio to flatten out...went from tube to folio for most. Not convinced it was the best way to go, but it is done.

Does anyone have a better history than myself on the foil craze? It seems fairly new (less than five years?).

Just curious. I have one or two myself but I only bought them because it’s what was available. Is almost rather have the regular.

The first I heard of them was in the Merch line last year at the Raleigh show.., Some one in line was asking about it, I’m like what? I too prefer the regular, and at the Virginia Beach show last weekend I went to the bathroom halfway through and saw they had posted a foil on the wall and it was going for $150…? Assuming they are always more expensive but holy crow…, That’s a lot of money for a poster.

When I went to a Goose show last month I bought both a regular and a foil, as I had never seen/had the opportunity for a foil in the past. I strongly suspect I'll turn around and sell the foil one - it (and they in general) aren't doing much for me.

It's even more new to the DMB poster craze....been around for a while with other bands. I think it helped that the limited edition foils sold well and quickly in warehouse store drops, and management finally figured out yet another way to pump in more money.

This year is the first year we're seeing foils regularly at shows, though some artists have acknowledged declining the offer from the band to make a foil version (makes me think every artist is being asked to do both regular and foil up front)....most foils before this year used to be artist editions sold directly by the artist a few days after the show, but not at the show. The price at shows has also risen from $100 to $125 to $150 fairly quickly. I can only imagine we'll slowly but surely see even larger foil runs and higher cost, too....

Foils used to be something that some of the artists did as one of the variants for their AE/AP drops.

The first time I remember DMB selling a foil at a show was the 2017 D&T night 2 tucan print. The run wasn't very big. Just 20 total foil posters. Then the 2018 Columbus show had a foil that was either sold at the show or was part of the Warehouse drop.

Most of the 2020 Drive-In posters had a foil version when released. Management saw how quickly those got snapped up and decided to do a foil version for pretty much every show of the 2021 & 2022 tours.
