I actually like the song live. That was a great version. If Dave put a little more effort on the studio version I think it wouldn’t get the hate that it does.

So Dave’s dipping his toe in virtual collaborations. Wonder if he’ll do anything with other DMB members.

I just posted about this in the Roi RIP thread, but it's relevant here (and elsewhere on these boards)...

As I've said/pointed out before, Branford was a clear influence on Roi and they also approach improvising/writing parts for pop/rock similarly. While it was distinctly Branford playing, the lines and inflections he played could have easily come from Roi.

That said, I think Branford tips his hat to Roi every time he plays with the band (or Dave). Mr. Marsalis is masterful and classy.

He is very underrated, not in his playing, but his influence on pop music. While the Dead weren't pop by any means, his time with them was clearly influential. The stuff he did was Sting was so different at the time as well.

I only caught the end of Dave playing Mercy. Did he play anything else or just one song?

    That was it
I grabbed the majority but missed the first 30 sec or so. He made a comment about his kids being born and it went right into it. No intro or anything to,give a heads up

9PM today, likely to be another 1, maybe 2 songs pre-recorded.

Dave did Come Tomorrow with an electric. All the other artists essentially played covers.

This is far and away my favorite version of Come Tomorrow. It's like the opposite of Space Between, which was recorded on the baritone but sounds better on the raised B guitar. Come Tomorrow sounds 100x better on electric baritone.

All of this regarding CT but the complete opposite for me, just listened, he sang it well at least
