Dumpstaphunk Economics

I assume as the opening act they are paid a lump sum flat fee (please correct me if I am wrong).

For something like last night, and Tony Hall in particular, how do you think they get "takin care of" from DMB for stepping in?

In one of my college econ classes, our textbook had an entire chapter dedicated to Dumpstaphunk Economics. A really thought-provoking topic.

I remember reading somewhere that sit-ins get paid generally (can't say that it's a fact, but I can say that I read it). Wanna say it's somewhere in the mid 3, low 4 figs.

Did Dave dock Stefan and Carter’s pay for the weekend? I would hope so. This IS a business they are trying to run.

Warren Haynes plays an 18 minute Cortez the Killer at Madison Square Garden and DMB wrote him a check for 500 bucks ???

Itís true. Pro musicians are part of a union and get paid for services provided as silly as it seems.. for some one warren Haynes status it doesnít matter but for a lesser known musician itís a big deal..

I would imagine Dave pays them. But even if he doesn't, I'm sure they benefit financially from the exposure they got playing as DMB fill-ins this weekend.

    Re: Dumpstaphunk Economics

Depends on the deal and foresight in the initial contract. Guest spot compensation runs the gamut. Some artists are more concerned about it than others, on both ends, some have a flat fee for a guest spot, some are just there for the experience. Managers and Agents usually hash that out. Knowing Mavis' career, it really could have gone either way.

I would imagine that being added to the main set in more than a traditional guest role would have created a separate contract or agreement for that instance. Broadcast and streaming are a whole separate bag, handled by the promoter/broadcast entity.

I assume Jeff, Rashawn, Tim, and Buddy get paid a fixed fee per show, and Dave, Carter, and Stefan get a % of profits from each show. I would be very interested to know what Boyd's status is as a shareholder. I would think they at least offered him a buyout.
