Yes, but why beat a dead horse? We understand you don't like it and many others agree with you, but there also a great deal who don't agree with you. The show seems to be very polarizing, either you love it or think it's mediocre.

Someone posted about it, and I just agreed with them and shared my opinion of how I ranked it, that's all. I wasn't trying to start an argument with anybody

It makes it more like a tape in that sense, that you get a vibe from a certain show.

Also, aren't the live trax generally mixed by a handful of different people? It seems like they rotate through editing and mixing.
You have a good point. As much as LS or CP might be considered the "perfect" mix (if there is such a thing), I also really love the way LT3 sounds. It matches the tempo and flow of the show. Also, LT8 has a bright mix that I enjoy, and LT28 has finally managed to capture DMB 3.0 in a way that doesn't sound muddy and compressed.

Re: Rank the Live Trax albums from best to worst

    Excellent : 3....... 8, 1, 2, 26, 11, 20, 7, 23 , 24, 16

    Very Good : 28, 19, 18, 13, 15, 17, 5, 21,

    Good : 12, 6, 14, 12, 10, 22

    Below Average : 4, 27, 25, 9 ( I never listen to these shows)

3 is far and away my favorite LT. The sound is fantastic and IMO blows away LT 16 , which sounds muddy , and LT 11 has a tin sound to it.

Example : GIG from LT 3 sounds perfect , GIG from LT 11 sounds like a solid Scott Brown bootleg . Why is that ? I paid the same price for each of those cd's , 1 shouldn't sound so much better then the other.

The inconsistent sound with the LT releases is annoying , and ridiculous to say the least. LT 27 sounds awful , and IMO it's a joke that they would charge the fans $$$ for a show that sounds like a bootleg. Same thing with DMBLive , but thats a whole other story.

Here are a few more examples/ complaints with the whole LT program and the inconsistencies of the releases.

LT 26 sounds awful , and that is so frustrating to me as it's a great show . Why is it that 3 other songs released on Warehouse discs sound superior to the LT 26 version ? Why did they wait 10 years to release a LT show from 2003 ? This LT (26) would have made a lot more sense as LT 4 that was released in 2005 .

LT 25 sounds great , but IMO is a below average show, released 7 years after the performance, making it an irrelevant release. Alpine 2012 should have been LT 25, released in the spring of 2013.

LT 7 was released 10 years after , but is a fantastic show , and a great release. LT 6 made sense when released, a mere 2 months after the shows at historic Fenway.

LT 12 sounds good , but is so short it was a waste of a LT IMO . Plus it was released 13 years after the performance. A couple of songs (Warehouse, Recently) from LT 12 should have been released . A show from 1999 anyone ?

LT 20 sounds fantastic , and is a great release , close to the bands 20 year anniversary . LT 27 , recorded in 2010 , sounds like shit. LT 28 was recorded 1 month after LT 27, and sounds amazing. Go figure.

Bottom line..all of the LT shows should be special shows , not average gigs and all should obviously sound great or they shouldn't be released.

Checking out some Live Trax I'd never listened to before . . . right now jamming to LT28, and it's quite good.

Not to pull the whole "but I was there!" card, but surprised at the lack of love for LT15. I think that recording perfectly captures the insane atmosphere at Alpine N1 in 2008. It's a big, boomy, echo-y mix for sure, but it fits it. Nonetheless, I'll still take LT8 (Alpine 04) over 15 - such a clean mix, and really a flawless performance.

EDDMB makes a good point about LT25 (St Louis '06, tour opener). I was in attendance, it was a FUN show, but no means a mindblowing set. But, it certainly sounds nice. Great mix.

For my top 5 live trax, I'm going:

    1) LT8 - yeah, I was there (just a bit biased). But pristine sound, and I just loved 2004 sets
    2) LT3 - LWS/Busted Stuff songs sound great, and the band is super tight
    3) LT15 - yet again, I was there haha. But really captures the intensity of that whole night
    4) LT11 - one of the more chill releases, but I go back to this a LOT
    5) LT29 - superb set from 2013. Captain is PERFECT.

For single best song? Two Step opener from LT13. God damn it's good.

I agree, and I was there as well. If Tim wasn't so loud in the mix there would be love for this LT.

Can someone explain why LT14 seems to be so hated around here? The setlist certainly isn't the best, but I think the performances and mix are stellar. Plus there are some truly great performances of songs like DDTW, Dreaming Tree, So Damn Luck (before it became a 20 minute snoozefest), YMDT, IOY, an ethereal Space Between, Sledgehammer, Ants, SMTS>ASTB>Too Much, PNP>Rapunzel.

Why do most people dislike/hate this show?

LT3 is the only Live Trax I own currently (on vinyl thank god) and I absolutely love it. From the Nancies intro where Dave sings the first lyrics real slow with the "If took a left turn instead" (not sure if that was on purpose or not) and Seek up on there is great. All the Busted Stuff songs on there are great also because they are before they released the album so they sound different. Leroi's sax on Linus and Lucy outro is kinda brutal though... that my only gripe about the track.

My vinyl kinda skips over the first verse on the maker in the same spot every time which I havent been able to figure out why quite yet.

I am dying to find a LT1 Vinyl... only one online is for like $500 and is part of the limited 500 release but... still... ugh. Want that Last Stop but thats another great LT. I'm also a fan of the Red Socks Stadium one (LT8?) - The Idea of You is a great track on that one.

Seems that some people have mixed feelings about LT10 on here... I havent heard the whole thing but damn that American Baby Intro is on effing point. Boyds violin sounds absolutely perfect which is rare.

I don't hate it, it's just one of my least favorite LTs. I love Dreaming Tree and Sledgehammer from it. Other than that, nothing stands out to me at all. The lows in that setlist are really low and the other highlights are pretty standard at best. Don't have to look very far to find Ants, SMTS, Too Much, Rapunzel, DDTW, YMDT on a million other releases, and those songs are actually surrounded by good songs on other releases.

    Eh Hee
    Bayou
    OOMH
    Everyday
    Ants

makes Ants look reallllly not so great. Rapunzel sandwiched between Sister and Thank You makes that a really boring encore IMO.

2 standout tracks on the release for me and a few other good classics, but that's it. Tough to actually listen to this full album all the way through.

LT17 has to be my favorite at this point.....Carter/Stefan are mixed perfectly. That Billies jam is a perfect example of that.

    LT 6 is Fenway Park.

    Oh, and it's Red Sox

LT 8 is phenomenal... one of the best. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out immediately!

Top 5 are 7, 3, 8, 1, and 5. I put on others from time to time but those are my heavy rotators.

I need to listen to 30 more.

Roi's solo on Watchtower on LT12 is one of my favorite DMB moments of all time.

Why do most people dislike/hate this show?
Agree with this. That Idea of You is fantastic, just behind 5/25/13 as the best version imo.
