thats really just speculation. Paterno could have been very, very concerned. but without knowing who the kid was because he didnt see him and because McQ didnt know who it was, there wasnt much Paterno could do. If he wasnt concerned, he wouldn't have escalated it

Maybe more information will come out...but being that JoePa himself basically said he didn't follow up, I don't see how anyone reasonable can say he was concerned. If this thread is any representation of the thinking from alumni, fans and citizens of Pennsylvania (especially those close to Happy Valley), its going to take a lot more work to rebuild all of the damage done, since obviously it's all about defending JoePa (& blaming the media) and not holding everyone responsible for these crimes. Sandusky is a disgusting piece of trash, and there were a lot of people, including JoePa, who could of limited his damage, if they did what they should of done morally, instead of what was "legally required"

as for his level of concern, again, its all just speculation. "follow up" is ambiguous. He may have asked what's going on, and not considered a casual question following up. He can't investigate a crime. He was concerned enough to escalate the situation. past that, im not sure what level of concern everyone wants- he didnt know who the kid was. if he did, 50 years of good deeds implies that he would have gone out of his way to pay for whatever counseling the kid needed, invite him to games, etc, cuz thats the kind of stuff he always did. but again, thats speculation, and thats all we have

Your right he can't investigate a crime. But he could of shown more concern and effort. That's what most of the real world thinks.

I believe Sandusky is 100% responsible for his "alleged" crimes. However, I think there are a lot of people who bit the bullet on exposing him earlier, including JoePa.

I agree with most of that, I just don't know what else he could have physically done himself. If he called 911 and the exact same thing happened, everyone would have said he should have taken it to the top. Let's say he did ask what was going on with this "Sandusky thing", and he was told it was being handled? Well hindsight we know it wasnt handled, so people would have still said he should have done more. He was in a no-win situation. The only way he could have come out clean is if the people he took it to- whoever they are in any scenario- did their jobs.
