You’d need to sell a lot of streams to make up that difference.

    Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

We'll have to wait and see how serious this variant business is. Many are predicting a major surge in the US in the timeframe of about April. Is this based on anything truthful, or is it media fear porn? Who the fuck knows? But it is a possibility.

I am going to say I am not worried about these variants. The way I understand it, the vaccines work well on all of these variants, with varying success depending on the strains. But since zero covid is not a realistic strategy anyway, it shouldn't matter. Once the majority of people are vaccinated or get covid, we should be approaching herd immunity. The vulnerable and elderly population will certainly be safe, and the load will have been lifted off the hospitals. That was supposed to be the entire point of the lockdowns and restrictions... right?

The other problem is that the shows this fall are in states like California, Oregon and Washington... full capacity shows may still not fly there by September. Whereas they could probably do the south and midwest without any problem during that time. So it will be interesting to see what unfolds. I am still not convinced they will play shows this year. They can plan all they want, but a lot of things would have to go right in order for that to happen.

But location and seating capacities aren’t hurdles to attend a livestream. Maybe not $10, but you can significantly reduce the price.

Yeah I remember that, i was one of the first to raise the possibility of shows being cancelled and people said “you’re crazy” lol. I really wanted to be wrong too.

But look, at some point we’ll have to learn to live with it. I think as long as we get booster shots every fall like we do with the flu, we’ll have a normal-ish late summer and fall.

Sure, I’ve said all along it’s a financial decision. If you have 50 percent capacity, can you sell enough streams to make up the difference, across a tour? I don’t know, but I have my doubts.

The DMB Couch Tour steams I think got above 10,000 at any given time, and several of them have over 100,000 views. Now the key difference is that those were free, but who knows what will happen.

Hypothetically, let’s say you are trying to make up a difference of 5,000 tickets, with an average price of $100 (between pavs and lawns). At $10 a piece that’s 50,000 people per stream. Seems crazy to me.

Wait, couch tour streams do 10k people live? I find that super hard to believe.

Personally, I think you're completely over estimating the number of people that would buy the stream. If the world is half way back to normal, which we are approaching in some areas, I think I would do just about anything on a summer night (i.e., go out to dinner, grab a drink, anything really outside of my house), then purposefully stay in to buy and watch a live stream of a show. DMB would be the fall back plan.

The venue is really the ones who pay. They make their money on the back end, through Parking, Food & the Biggie....Beverages.

All sides have incentive to compromise in order to make it work.

I still think 75%+ capacity shows in August is a stretch. That's less than 6 months away. That's definitely a best case scenario. I agree with the part about stretching out until close to year end. I don't doubt Live Nation will push hard to open some venues by August, if we continue to see improvement over the next 2-3 months.

Of course that’s how the venue makes money, wasn’t talking about the venue.

Taylor Swift decided that the 4 Sold Out Stadium shows originally scheduled for last summer in CA & MA, won't be rescheduled, and are now cancelled.

The reason is because it seemed like a “deathly disease” hits every couple of years. I just thought you were looking into it a little much. I remîember in early January I was reading another message board, and someone posted a thread about covid. I saw a video in the thread where they were spaying down the streets in China and I honesty didn’t think much of it. I felt like I have seen that happen before. I don’t think a lot of people did think much of it at that time.

It got some news coverage, but wasn’t the Huge news story it is today, until about March. That’s when the thread for the potential canceling the tour got started. I figured that since the NCAA Tournament was still planning to go on as normal, I figured concerts would go on. Then things really changed overnight. The NCAAT got cancelled and so did all of sports for a while. Even when they were canceling sports, I still couldn’t have imagined this whole social distancing, shut downs, and mask wearing thing. I remember around March 12ish I went out to eat for my friends birthday, and that was the last time I ate in a restaurant until July. The grocery store I work at was slammed ever single day in the month of March. You couldn’t find toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or cleaning products. Just madness. Lots of people were maskless too. Just Jammed until closing time. I don’t know how I never got covid with the masses of people I came in contact with back in March. This was before the mask mandates. Just wrists times where nobody knew exactly joss de

I assume they have a date that is their point of no return. Whenever it is, we won't hear anything until after that date. They're probably trying to figure out if there is any way than can do some kind of shows.

Things are looking up. Cases numbers are down, vaccinations are rising. My parents get their first round this week. But I feel like the media are saying "Can we please have another surge this spring? PLEASE?? Look... cases have kind of plateaued, right?? Does that mean the variants are going to wreck society all over again? COVID-21, anyone??"

I'm sure you're right about the date of no return...... sure would like to know what that is. I'm think by earlier April. Just a guess.......

Austin City Limits released it's dates today. Planning to do their typical first two weekends in October bit.

I'm actually somewhat confident. I'm also getting the vaccine today though so maybe that's it.

Between Camden and PNC here in NJ.. I am 90% sure that those dates are not happening.. I do like the live stream idea but I am looking at big picture...Why go at 10%-15% capacity now rather then just wait another year to possibly be at 70%-80% capacity.

I miss live music just as much as you guys do..I have a Fiance in charge of respiratory for multiple Hospitals in the area...we are not really close to being out of the woods as of yet..I would rather be patient for a little while longer and go when I know when it is safer rather than just rush back out there just because i miss hearing the boys live.

That's the thing though - nothing stops you from waiting - you're more than welcome to wait another year if you're uncomfortable.

Plenty of reason to be confident. Lots of good news coming and more every day.

The only way I'd feel comfortable going to shows this year is if venues required

    A) temperature / symptom checking upon entry
    and
    B) COVID vaccine cards showing either one dose vaccine or both doses of a two dose vaccine

But without that, until most of the country is vaccinated, I don't plan on going to any concerts. Even if it means missing a show here in even my home state.

We have an autoimmune child, so I can't risk bringing home COVID.

It really hinges on what happens in the next month or two. Will this spring surge be a thing? Will variant fear porn spook people enough to make them air on the side of caution?

I really think they need to just set a goal, say Labor Day weekend, for full capacity events to happen, and just make it happen.
