While true...you do realize that the other side also thinks they are the patriotism and intelligence side? Have you seen their memes and Charlie kirk's thinking guy emoji face posts? Those appeal to people because it makes them think they are smart.

And then there is this big idea that the republican platform doesn't work for politics because the republican platform is too long term thinking whereas politics are immediate so Republicans always lose to Democrats. Thus it's the republicans who are the intellectuals and it's the Democrats who just pander to base id feelings. Democrats propose stuff NOW and republican policy takes time, 30 40 years and it's harder to quantify. You need to be a real egg head to get it.

Heard a great line on a podcast this week: we notice and get upset when we see someone not wearing a mask because the vast majority of folks are wearing them. It means the messaging is working for the vast majority of society, which is a positive thing.

So the US completed its 3rd federal execution in a week - the 13th overall since the federal death penalty was reinstated - the final execution of the Trump presidency.

The State has no business in executing its citizens, regardless of how terrible those citizens may be. There’s no evidence the death penalty serves as a deterrent to crimes that would warrant the sentence, and it is terribly costly.

19th century justice in the 21st. Unreal that we have people who not only tolerate this, but champion it as some useful tool against crime.

I know that dude is trying to be professional and nice, but at this point businesses just need to tell people once that a mask is required to enter the building, and if people push back just tell them that it's company policy and if you if don't adhere to it you'll be asked to leave, and if you don't comply the police will be called on you for trespassing. Period.

Probably the ADA one that was making the rounds back in April/May. Someone in the replies mentioned it: businesses just have to provide an accommodation, not specifically accommodate what the anti maskers want.
