Old news perhaps but from hbo.com:

HBO has renewed the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning western drama series DEADWOOD for a third season. Produced by David Milch ("NYPD Blue," "Hill Street Blues"), the show is scheduled to begin production of 12 new episodes later this year, with debut set for 2006 on HBO. Check this site regularly for updates.

So I just got HBO a couple of weeks ago and got hooked on Deadwood via ondemand. I have heard that it is cancelled or at least at risk of being cancelled, any of you guys know anything about this. It is pretty good from what I have seen of season one and the first half of season two.

I just got both seasons yesturday because Best Buy had a sale where you could buy both for around $90 which is practically 2 for the price of one.

I am fucking pumped for the new season.

And I do believe it is the last, whether that was planned or made because of cancellation, I don't know

It is the last season. The creator has another show he is working on for HBO and they decided it wasn't cost efficient to keep the Deadwood cast under contract for the length of time it will take them to make the other show.

It is a shame, but the article I read chalked it up to being a numbers game.

So glad there's a thread on this show. I fucking love it! A shame they don't want to continue it after this season. Figures money is the reason they won't continue it. It is expensive, but it's worth it. The writing, acting, and production values are amazing! Looking forward to Sunday!

I think Wu might be gone for good. With Hearst's guy (San Francisco Cocksucker) gone, there is no need for his storyline to pick back up. We can just assume he's hiding out in another camp trying to start a buisness from scratch.

But I just love how much Swearengen controls everything. He's a nobody when it comes to the broad scheme of things in the country, but here he is playing Hearst like a fiddle. He's an enourmous fish in a small pond.

The preview for next week looks very interesting in the scene where Andy returns. I'm excited.

That was pretty funny! He is a funny little man. I love the way Trixie acts so tough but definitely has a tender side. The characters are so multi-dimensional. Not something you see a lot of on TV

I love watching Swearengen work his magic to control every thing that goes on. And now that Hearst is in town, he's going nuts. This is the best show on TV right now. At least there's one good show on during the summer.

A great storyline is Swearingen losing control of the camp and his reaction to it. Dan did him a big favor giving him his balls back.

I don't feel that Swearingen has lost control of the camp, I feel like Swearingen has another ace up his sleeve just like when Cy came into camp it seemed like Swearingen had lost some power in the camp, but then BAM he pulls out the suprises. I think next weeks episode is going to be awesome with Hearst going to war with Swearingen/Deadwood camp.

Sidenote: Did anyone else get really skeeved out when that dude's eye ball got ripped out by Dan?
