There's even special circumstances like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch where both Fox and Marvel Studios can use them in movies.

So confusing. I would love to see a movie with Deadpool and iron man in it.

So to add some more confusion to the character rights discussion; it appears Marvel may have the rights to Namor the Submariner after all.

Namor is the character I had really hoped they'd leave alone. Aquaman is lame enough but Namor is even more lame that Aquaman. Hopefully they don't do anything with him.

The Submariner was always a arrogant guy with a bad attitude. He was so the antihero.

Aquaman was always a joke until they decided to toughen him up a bit.

so supposedly Sharon Stone is going to play Janet Van Dyne in the Ant-Man sequel, Hank Pym's long lost wife who it was believed has been trapped in the quantum realm all this time. back together with Michael Douglas, how perfect is that.

Sweet...all these movies need is MORE humor. I'm fine with some humor here and there to lighten things up a bit, but they've been taking it too far, in my opinion. I was very shocked with how much humor was in Civil War, which was a big reason I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. They could benefit to tone the humor down in their movies.

Depends on the movie, I think. With something like Guardians of the Galaxy the more humor the better, it's just that kind of movie. With something like Age of Ultron, where it felt forced and unnecessary, no thank you.

As far as Civil War goes, I thought the humor was much like the rest of it -- fine, certainly competent, but I was rather hoping for more.

I like the humor. I think for the most part they've found good balance in the MCU; outside of the forced stuff in Ultron.

On the other extreme you have the Dark Knight series (which I loved) but at times just took itself way too seriously (insert Joker "why so serious" here)

I've always enjoyed some humor, but it's just felt like overkill in the last few movies. I thought Civil War had way too much, and I was really surprised by that. That's what made it feel like "just another Avengers movie" to me. What set Winter Soldier apart was that it took itself more seriously. I just thought that Civil War was a great opportunity to be a strong emotional drama, but they littered it with unnecessary humor and it took me out of the seriousness of the movie.

Honestly that seems like a bit of a strange criticism to me. There really wasn't any more humor in Civil War than there was in Winter Soldier, I'd say. I mean there's always gotta be SOME humor, even if you are "taking it seriously" for a superhero movie, but it's not like they ratcheted up the jokes suddenly for CW in comparison.

Yeah you're not being honest, stop lying. There were way more jokes in CW over WS, it was overkill and ruined several moments. WS had the right balance which I loved and the jokes never felt forced like it did in CW. I had high hopes for CW with that same balance but I grew concerned from the trailers and the movie confirmed that.

that's right, I'm outright lying. I'm part of that giant conspiracy of people getting paid off by Marvel

I don't think there was too much humor in Civil War at all. trust me, I mean I think I've kinda mentioned this before, way back when I first heard the Russos were even doing WS, I was absolutely shocked. I adored their work in Arrested Development and Community, but honestly largely from that they were pretty much the last possible option I would've thought would approach the Captain America sequel, of all things. In what was probably the most earnest thing from the MCU at that point in their stretch. but now they've wound up showing me they can handle the balance really well and on a huge scale.

edit - actually now I think about it, okay let me amend that statement. Because alright, on the whole there was probably more humor put in Civil War than WS, but as far as the ratio of the context, it still felt pretty right on to me. Which seems like the most important part.

I think it's a fair criticism. I thought the movie was going to be more serious, like Winter Soldier, and it played out more like Avengers. In fact, I thought it had even more humor than Avengers. It just had a much lighter tone than I expected. I'm sure in time I'll like it more, because it wasn't a bad movie, but I went in expecting one thing and got another. That first trailer, which gave me goosebumps, completely misrepresented the final product. The first trailer made me think we were going to get something on the caliber of The Dark Knight, but it certainly wasn't that.

Again, I liked it, but just thought it was going to be better.

I forgot to make another point. I enjoy the Marvel movies. I love comic book movies whether it's Marvel or DC, I don't care. But I do tend to enjoy the more serious films rather than the jokier, "fun" ones. Winter Soldier is behind the Dark Knight Trilogy (I count the whole trilogy as #1) as best comic book movie, on my list. I just think Marvel has been taking the humor too far, which I think was apparent in Civil War and is why I used it as an example. Save that kind of humors for Ant-Man or Guardians.

I imagine it will have some, yes. But it has been advertised that way, as they've already showed some of the humor in the trailers. It looks like a chaotic movie with all sorts of ups and downs (in a good way). But Civil War was billed as an emotional epic that I don't feel delivered as such.

Ideally, it would have a dark, outrageous, somewhat bloody, Tarantino-y humor. IMO.

I'm ok with PG-13. The Dark Knight showed you could still make a dark movie with a very disturbing character and still rate it PG-13.
