I want to like Suicide Squad so badly. I've watched it three times, just hoping each time that somehow, this time, it won't suck.

Will I be confused if I watch Logan but haven't seen any of the previous movies and don't know the story?

    I mean, not really.

There's a couple of references to stuff that's happened, but no you won't be lost.

I mean, you'll be able to follow the plot but I think at least part of the emotion in seeing this resolution is tied to having followed these characters for nearly two decades, or, for those who haven't been watching since the beginning, at least having followed them through 8 movies.

    I'll agree with that Matthew.

I texted my buddy while watching it that I was legitimately sad.

    THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

This didn't quite land with me as I'd thought/hoped it would. I don't know, I mean I definitely liked it, and maybe it was the mood I happened to be in when I watched it, but in a way it just sort of felt 'meh' to me. I adored The Lego Movie and had been looking forward to this and really expected to be pleased. Instead it's more just kind of... there. Maybe it was too busy? not sure.

War Machine - Thought it was decent given the changes to the main story. I wish it were more drama and less satire. Pitt was pretty good, even if he did seem to be playing Aldo Raine again. 6/10

watched ALIEN: COVENANT. I can't imagine there is a single person in the audience who didn't see that "twist" coming. Have you EVER seen another movie in your life? I knew exactly what happened literally the moment it actually happened in the movie, that was one of the most absurdly obvious twists I've ever seen.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

oh and Michael Fassbender's American accent... oye vay. It cracks me up, the majority of UK actors who are inferior at doing an American accent have the same major crutch. Since how the "R" is pronunciated is one of the biggest differences in our accents, the worst ones overcompensate and stress the hard R waaaay too much. The whole key to mimicking a foreign accent well is subtlety.

I know, I'm sure this will be viewed as nitpicky, but I'm a stickler for accents

    A Kind of Murder

it was going for a Noir feel. so a slow burner. Patrick Wilson and Jessica Biel in it. It was "ok" - probably in the end a bit of too slow in the pacing.

    Trollhunter

Hadn't watched it in about 6 months, so I was due. It' still excellent.

Agreed. Thought the movie was really superficial - didn't go into motivation or how it happened.

I just looked at the OP for maybe the first time. Is The Manchurian Candidate really only a 6/10? I've never seen it but isn't it considered a classic?

I have watched it again since and liked it much more the second time around. Probably would be an 8 or 8.5.

I really wish they went through the story of his life. It was just irritating that it was just pretty much about him turning himself in.

True, but in the case of The Manchurian Candidate, I don't think it was a film classy thing for why I was lukewarm to it at first. I remember watching it fairly late in the evening and I just kind of zoned out for a good portion of it. What might strike you as ironic, is that if memory serves correctly, the second time I watched it was a couple years later in a film studies class specifically covering 60s cinema.

Also, it's amazing that it's now been a little over 10 years since I started this thread.

Lovesong - cute little little independent movie. Wish there was actual lesbian sex though, what a tease all throughout the film.

Star Trek: Beyond - rewatched this on 4K. Fun movie and I believe it has good rewatch value. Still laughed at parts, some good action scenes, just the right amount of cheese.
