16 Personalities/Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Curious if anyone knows their personality type. I've noticed on dating sites lately a lot of people actually list their personality type, so I decided to take the test just to see what mine was.

This test apparently gives "a 'freakishly accurate' description of who you are and why you do things the way you do."

"Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire with the purpose of indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions."

The test:

    This is my result:

    "ARCHITECT PERSONALITY (INTJ, -A/-T)

It’s lonely at the top, and being one of the rarest and most strategically capable personality types, Architects know this all too well. Architects form just two percent of the population, and women of this personality type are especially rare, forming just 0.8% of the population – it is often a challenge for them to find like-minded individuals who are able to keep up with their relentless intellectualism and chess-like maneuvering. People with the Architect personality type are imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, amazingly curious, but they do not squander their energy."

Are complementary hand jobs included in these test results or are they for ego stroking only?

I never know how to answer these things because my answer will differ wildly depending on the context.

"You do not mind being the center of attention."

In what scenario? There are times that I would relish it, and times I would absolutely dread it.

I've done at least a dozen of these type of things through work over the years. Fucking stupid and contradictory.

My favorite was one that assigned you as an animal... I got to be a shark which was awesome.

I always feel like the questions are phrased like a psychic would talk to me if I got a reading. Never know how to answer them, especially if there are only two choices.

When I worked for Paychex they made their employees do it - pretty sure I took this thing back in like '02/'03.

I had to do a similar one for my internship this summer, it was required of all the interns.

    Seems pretty accurate to me:

    MEDIATOR PERSONALITY (INFP, -A/-T)

"Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

If they are not careful, Mediators can lose themselves in their quest for good and neglect the day-to-day upkeep that life demands. Mediators often drift into deep thought, enjoying contemplating the hypothetical and the philosophical more than any other personality type. Left unchecked, Mediators may start to lose touch, withdrawing into “hermit mode”, and it can take a great deal of energy from their friends or partner to bring them back to the real world."

I equate these things to horoscopes. There's a few questions trickled in there that are key questions, pointing you to a specific type.

Then you read the description, and like with a horoscope, you are able to pull out similarities to yourself.

I know I'm an introvert, I know I'm kind and interested in feelings and listening to people rather than talking to people. But, as a psychology major, it's still interesting to me to read "detailed" theories.

    DEBATER PERSONALITY (ENTP, -A/-T)

The Debater personality type is the ultimate devil’s advocate, thriving on the process of shredding arguments and beliefs and letting the ribbons drift in the wind for all to see. Debaters don’t do this because they are trying to achieve some deeper purpose or strategic goal, but for the simple reason that it’s fun. No one loves the process of mental sparring more than Debaters, as it gives them a chance to exercise their effortlessly quick wit, broad accumulated knowledge base, and capacity for connecting disparate ideas to prove their points.

Playing the devil’s advocate helps people with the Debater personality type to not only develop a better sense of others’ reasoning, but a better understanding of opposing ideas – since Debaters are the ones arguing them.

An odd juxtaposition arises with Debaters, as they are uncompromisingly honest, but will argue tirelessly for something they don’t actually believe in, stepping into another’s shoes to argue a truth from another perspective.

... sounds like the Patriots and Red Sox thread!

I like Myers Briggs, it's pretty good for the most part

I think introversion and extroversion is a huge spectrum and naturally I get ESFJ or ISFJ depending on the day

I'm sure there's some truth/accuracy to them but I think generally speaking it's confirmation bias. Whatever you get you'll be like "omg that's sooo me!" Plus I think we subconsciously (or consciously) answer questions with a leading answer as opposed to totally off the cuff.

I don't agree with parts of mine. I'm more extrovert than introvert, but mine has me listed as more introverted.

I hate when jobs make you fill these out prior to employment. I once applied to for a call center and the one they had you fill out was like 300 questions. I just did the Mortal Combat blood code over and over; ABACABB. They called and said my answers were in line with the kind of person they were looking for for the job. I was like, uh, the kind of person that hates boring work and will rush through it not caring if it's right or wrong because it's stupid? Cuz yea, that's definitely me.
